Sanden in your W123? How do you like it?
I was wanting feedback from W123 owners that have a Sanden A/C Compressor. I am thinking about converting mine to the Sanden, but wanted to get some feedback to see how others like theirs.
* How do you like it? * Did you experience any issues? * Any issues keeping the A/C belt tight? * How many miles do you have with the Sanden?

I like it a lot. I didn't have a choice as the 123 engine I installed in the 380SL didn't allow keeping the R4 * Did you experience any issues? I had to modify the mounting bracket (a problem you won't have) and fab up a different tensioning system. I had to re-do one A/C hose (my problem) and I found out the expansion valve was bad and had to replace that. Also had some problems charging, but that was my fault for not understanding the gauge operation at first. * Any issues keeping the A/C belt tight? Actually yes, but I think it's a problem with a cheap belt more than with the system * How many miles do you have with the Sanden? About 6000 No question it's a better unit. No possible reason to stay with the R4 if it's failing

Limited usefulness
I promise to post similiar information on my thread:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/319593-1984-300d-light-ivory-unique-car.html * How do you like it? I like it. It looks pretty good tucked up under there. It was a bear to get installed. * Did you experience any issues? I reused the existing manifold from the R4 compressor. Slight bending is required. I used ROLLGUY's bracket --- had to use a slightly shorter belt than he provided with the kit; however, he has corrected this now. * Any issues keeping the A/C belt tight? None so far --- but I have ZERO miles on it yet. ROLLGUY changed out the locknuts. * How many miles do you have with the Sanden? ZERO --- I'm hoping to get the car put back together and get it operational soon.

No doubt I am biased. So no need for me to answer here, as I have answered all the questions one way or another in my threads. I too would like to hear how others feel about their Sanden retrofit experience. Thanks for starting this thread. It is nice to have a separate thread for reviews to be posted.....Rich

Anyone else?
Anyone else not running the stock R-4 compressor in their W123?
