Google'd that model number and it looks like ROLLGUY used one. The Sanden's have different heads so you would have to find the right head to replace the one on that compressor.

Try this:
Murray® Climate Control 58113 - A/C Compressor | O'Reilly Auto Parts

I pulled a used one out of a late 80's VW Golf at the PNP. You should be able to get an A/C compressor for an 88 VW Golf with the 1.8L gas engine and it will be the one I found.

I went to Oreilly's site and this is what I put in:
1988 Volkswagen Golf GL

L4 - 1.8L vin A 1780cc type PF

That compressor will NOT work on a 'Benz, as it has the deep head (about 2" longer). It will hit the lower control arm mount. If you are using the Sanden in something other than an MB (plenty of room behind the compressor), I have a couple of those deep heads @ $15 each.

The 5 cyl needs a "K" head, the 7 cyl needs the "KG" head.

I am not sure what you are missing, but maybe this will help. The Sandens come in 5 cyl (SD5H14), and 7 cyl (SD7H15). They have a different head, thus the K for the 5 cyl, and the KG for the 7.

You just need to make sure it has rear ports so it will be easier to install. This was mainly for the MBZ cars though, if yours is not going in an MBZ the other ports might be easier for your fabricator to work with.

I installed the "K" styled head (back plate). Also, make sure you have a super accurate torque wrench if you have to swap them out. I barely tightened a few of the 5 bolts and pulled the threads clear out. I had to heli-coil all 5 bolts. I am happy I did this, but it was an extra chore and an extra $20 bucks for the gasket kit and heli-coils, and bolts. The "K" head has the #8 and #10 male threaded ports. (I think that is the size). The "standard" head on my 508SD was a no-go for a number of reasons. It might fit other applications, but looking at the "K" head, that is probably the better way to go.

Steel bolts in aluminum threads = easily stripped threads.

Thanks for the info and the heads up Mark!

I am wondering why not buy a compressor from me? I have them in stock ready to ship (SD5H14). I can get the SD7H15 in a matter of a few days as well.

Where are your Sandens made (country of origin)? A major problem for me is sending large sums of cash in the mail. I will NOT do it. In small amounts that i won't care if lost yes, but not several hundred $.
