Is there a difference in engine mounts? 240 vs 300

Is there a difference in engine mounts? I know the part numbers are different between the 240 & 300. I need new mounts for my 240, but all Pelican has in stock are URO brand (yuk!). They have plenty of all the brands (Phoenix, Meyle, Fibi etc) in stock for the 300. Should I order a pair for the 300 or just wait for the Fibi brand to be restocked for the 240?

huh....I didn't know they were different part numbers....I had ordered meyle's before I knew they weren't good and bought lemforders instead. Put the Lems on the 300cd and was thinking to use the meyle's on the 240 since they're so easy to get to I don't mind redoing in year or two....but if they don't fit.....

I believe that the correct mounts have two green dots. The only ones that I could find a year ago were MB, at a ridiculous price per unit. I put the white dot Lemforders for the 300D into my '79 a year and a half ago, after Thai manufactured Karlyns failed in just over a year. They are holding up well. The car has 185K. The engine doesn't rock or shake except when it starts dead cold, and there is no perceptible performance or vibration issue. The main difference is the shore hardness of the rubber, and there were several different versions. The color of the paint dots indicates the application. They may not last as long, due to the slightly different hardness, but I doubt it.

I know that the mounting is exactly the same, and that they will interchange (617 N/A & turbo, 616). You are probably right about the hardness. I guess that is the reason for my question. If I use the one for the 617, would it transmit more vibration than the one for the 4 cyl?

You can install the 300D units on the 240D, but not the reverse.

Personally I stopped using the 240D mounts on anything in 1982.
I realized the cost was identical, and strength - durability was superior for the w123 300D mount.

That is nice to know. There are much more choices for the 300 as well, and I will order those. Another thing is, I usually like to stock a motor mount or two, so ordering just the one part # makes things simpler. Thanks, Rich

Made my day!!! I can put these exta 300 mounts in my 240D now. The 300CD joined the 'officially sidelined barn cars' list yesterday until the smoking issue is resolved...which I expect will be valve guides.

As previously stated; quite a few People have simply used the 300D 617.952 mounts and I can't recall anyone saying they had an issue caused by that.

Motor Mounts made by Phoenix are the Stock Mounts at $115 or more from the MB Dealer and are made in Turkey. Phoenix= Stock Mounts = Lemförder/Lemfoerder/Lemforder (Lemfoerder grinds off the Mercedes star but for some reason leaves the Phoenix Logo).
If you shop around the Lemfoerder Mounts are reasonably priced (prices are always changing).
