190D motor swap, 1965 W110. Where to start the project thread.

I'd like to start a running project thread for my '65 190Dc OM621 motor swap. Would it be more appropriate to do that here or on the Vintage Mercedes forum?

The donor car, I believe is a W121.110.

Thanks.

Makes sense to me. Also it's probably time for a sanity check.

The donor motor number is OM 621.910-10-045213

Will I have to do anything special to fit this into my 1965 W110 190Dc? I noticed the air intake is slightly different. What do I want to do with the transmission? Keep the motors with the transmissions or keep the existing trans in the '65?

The donor ponton motor doesn't have the elaborate aluminium air intake piece. What is the purpose of that piece anyway?

The plan is to keep the original motor and find another head for it and put it back in when this donor motor fails.

I'd look over the trannies and use the one which looks better. As far as removing the engine and tranny together its about six of one and a half dozen of the other.
