Is It TRUE That Full Synthetic Oil Is Over Kill On Older IDI Diesels?
After doing hours of reading on BobIsTheOilGuy, I've realized all but a handful of "full synthetic" oils are actually dino based. Including Mobil 1 and Rotella T6(what I currently use).
I'm only interested in group v and up. Being that soot is the limiting factor for our older engines, is there really a point of using something like Amsoil Signature series oil? https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/diesel/signature-series-max-duty-synthetic-diesel-oil-15w-40/?code=DMEQT-EA https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/diesel/signature-series-max-duty-synthetic-diesel-oil-5w-40/?code=DEOQT-EA The soot levels would cut it off short long before we can get the most out if correct, even for the newer 60x engines right? Curious because I was considering buying this stuff. Edited botched title
