What is a good inkjet WIFI printer?

I bought a Canon Maxify MB2320 ink jet printer from Bestbuy Dec 2016 and within 5 months with less than 40 pages printed, it tells me I am out of ink. I called Canon tech support and they told me that the printer must be plugged into AC power and left on 24/7. I told them that is not mentioned in the user's manual and refuse to leave it on continously. Anyway none of the steps they tried with me over the phone worked to get the printer to print so they sent me a replacement and I shipped my printer back to Canon.

The replacement printer is a different model, a Maxify MB2720 which looks identical to the old one. Anyway 8 months later, with less than 80 pages printed, it tells me I am out of ink again! Canon told me upfront that the replacement printer will only have a 30 day warranty. Basically I spent $100 to print around 100 pages! That's $1.00 a page! I am not going to buy cartridges for this piece of garbage and will buy another brand printer.

Anyway, I need a WIFI printer that won't run out of ink prematurely. With Black Friday coming what is a good inkjet printer (not Canon) that is affordable and reliable with affordable replacement ink cartridges?

I know this is the diesel discussion forum. I am posting this here because of sentiments of frequent posters of this forum, we are all friends and it is OK to post OT topics as long as it is not political.

My personal view is to keep it diesel related. It doesn't make sense to have all kind of off tropic posts here. There are other forums which are more closely related to the subject matter.

I am not a big fan of Canon printers. Had one for about a year, and it died with a code that indicated it needed a new print head. I presently have two Brother printers that have been flawless in over two years of operation. You can get non-OEM ink at great prices, and the printers could care less. The models I have are: Mfc-J650dw, and Mfc-4750dw, and they are both wifi. If you do a lot of pictures, I would stick with the Mfc-J650dw because of its paper loading tray, and you have the capability of inserting most any sd card from a camera directly into the printer.

I gave up on printers years ago it was costing $18 per page on a HP, as I don't print much then they dry out, real frustrating. I now go to a print shop .05 cents per page. They also have an early bird 50% discount when I do color or multi page diesel manuals. Maybe try lazer my friends prefer those for the same reason of not drying out.

Did you mean Mfc-J475dw and not Mfc-4750dw?

Many printers are shipped with partial ink cartridges (read: it's a trap).
If this is the case, a replacement cartridge should be good for several hundred pages.

I'd make sure this isn't the case before you dismiss the printer you currently have because as I said, many printers pull this scam and thus you'll get poor performance out of the box once again.

It is apparently ok per a few long term members as long as it is not political. I actually reported an off topic post http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/389915-gas-hot-water-pilot-light-went-out-what-do.html on gas hot water heater but it is still on diesel discussion so I assume it is ok for now.

That's very interesting but isn't that illegal? The first printer was bought from Bestbuy, the replacement came from Canon USA. Both ran out of ink with less than 100 pages printed.

HP officejet pro 8710. I use these things to death, if you're looking for a cheap to buy, cheap to run all in one these are the units I turn to. I currently have a few of these, they just don't die and I get the remanufactured ink cartridges off Amazon so they are super cheap to run. Also, you can email directly from the unit, but be sure you use the APP section that is right on the display it's waaaaaaay easier to set up than the scan or email feature.

If you want to spend some $$$ to get some REALLY good quality get a HP color laserjet pro M277DW (or what ever the new model is). I've found a place to get remanufactured toner for about $150 total for all four of the toners for this unit. You really get some bang for the buck out of this one, the toners last a long time.

Why inkjet? Talk about false economy. Sure the printer is cheap, but the ink? Inkjet ink is one of the most expensive manufactured substances out there. I threw away my last inkjet a good 10 years ago and never looked back.

I have been happy with two Canons. A Pixma MX432 and a Pixma MX732. Both are wireless and work perfectly with easy set up. I buy XXL refilled cartridges on line and they seem to last quite a while. The MX432 is probably 7-8 years old now. I will admit that the picture quality on high gloss paper is only pretty good - good enough to frame but not the quality that you get from Kodak or Wolf Camera in Atlanta.

Agree - this thread belongs elsewhere but glad to reply anyway. I think the moderators often move these things.

What did you replace your inkjet with? I do not do a lot of printing.Maybe 400 pages a year in black and white for text and music scores? I don't need to print photos. It also must have ink when I receive the occasional faxes. What kind of printer do you recommend for that kind of use?

Funola - new printers are infamous for coming with introductory ink cartridges; that means that they have quite a bit less ink than a normal replacement cartridge. Not illegal and quite well known. Also you should disregard the notice from the printer that your ink has run out; generally you have at least 20-30% left in the cartridges when the message shows. Just run them until they stop printing; does not hurt a thing - in fact instructions tell you to hold one of the buttons down for maybe five seconds to be able to continue printing temporarily. I do it all the time.
