I don't think it sold since the reserve wasn't met.

It's in nearly-new condition, wow. You can't buy a new car for $35k that's nicer or better built than this.

I stand corrected-I saw where it said “this item is no longer available” and I assumed it had made reserve. I wonder what that number was? It also could’ve sold off-line. Nevertheless, the bidding went pretty high!

Using the high bid of $ 35 K , that would be $13,763.38 in 82 money. What did they sell for in 82?

That sounds about right. I paid $24K in 1987 for a 1984 300SD which had just come off a three year lease from the dealer. Within three weeks my wife filled it completely up with gas - yes, gas - and it stalled before it got out of the service station driveway. My Indy drained it, refilled it with diesel, and we never had another problem.

$35k is a bit insane for one of these cars. I personally would rather be spending that sort of money on a more recent car, for the sake of issues related to sitting and age, also refinement.

Pleather ,plastic leather ,a salesman must have came up with this term on the fly during a sales pitch in which the question was asked "IS that real leather on the seats?" ,Oh YES SIR !,the genuine pLEATHER .Who knew it would last 10 times longer so that will do.
