If the Dowel Pin Holes have been elongated before you re-drill them you need to make sure the degrees on the pulley are actually lined up when your piston is at TDC or it will be useless for timing purposes.
If I remember correctly you also need to cut the dowel pins to length.

The ones I bought years ago were too long so I did indeed need to cut them down to make sure the rest of the gubbins fitted onto the front of the crankshaft
