The .95x is a redesign of the .91x, it is better.

Aren't the NA pistons different too? I think you would want to swap them as well as the cam.. but then theres the EGT problem. The NA engine is going to run at higher EGTs because there isn't enough air. So whats the harm in putting a turbo on it? If I were looking to mod a 617 for long life, and this is a naive opinion, I might look for a low-boost turbo (like 5-8psi) that has a big, roomy exhaust side, and turn the fueling down a bit.. but thats basically what mercedes did from the factory...

I am not sure what the NA piston's effect on CR is.

I can't remember all the reasons cited, but in Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, he goes into the many reasons why turbo charging is better than a static increase in CR.
So, if you decreased the CR in the Turbo motor and compensated with boost sufficient for the same power output as the NA engine, the turbo engine would far outlast the NA engine.
