Difference in Power and Driveability of a 300E and a 300E-24

Just got a question ive been dying to have opinions to.....

Ive always loved the 300 series models..All Ive wanted to know is that is there really any difference between a similarly aged 300E and a 300E-24? I mean, I know the 300E-24 has 24 valves as opposed to 12, but is there a difference in driveability, fuel consumption, get up and go and outright performance? I would just like your facts and opinions, it would really make my day...

Thanks
Christian
