You do know that those trials are basically what is known as "victor's justice" don't you? Not that I don't agree that they did a bad thing but basically, they were on trial because we won the war. If we had lost it, they would be heros.

Or in the case of modern Japan glossed over in an attempt to forget. ie "That Nanking incident"

Got to love how they gloss over WW2 in those modern Japanese text books.

The kinds of questions we never had to answer to regarding Nam or Nicaragua, where I believe we were indicted by some European courts. Should research that but it's late.

When some damn-fool European court sends there army over here to arrest somebody I'll give a ***** what some damn-fool European court says.

Maybe when they charge the murderers in Darfur, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Mao Tse Tung and Joe Stalin with some sort of crime they'll have value.

Since no one is big enough to make us stand trial, therefore we are as pure as the driven snow, eh?

The bigger point of the war crimes trials for WW2 Germans and Japanese, is that they demonstrated some of the darker permutations of human possibility. It is naive, IMHO, to believe that nothing remotely like that could ever happen here. Our prisons do not want for occupants. Organized crime in the US is no laughing matter. We are not somehow endowed with above average morality.

We are good people in many ways but that's all we look at, too often. Germans and Japanese in 1939 had a high sense of self-esteem as well. Why do we expect that we are less susceptible to self delusion than they?

The present government of Vietnam is not causing me grief that I know of. Vietnam was the first major episode to shoot holes in our collective pride at being the good guys of the world, the friend to suffering peoples everywhere. It should serve as a cautionary tale for the next couple of centuries but chest beating hawks don't wish to put up with any restraint on the exercise of military force in pursuit of "our interests."

Because we put soldiers in jail that make prisoners bark like a dog or some other locker room prank thats why. The fact of the matter is our military rules itself and that is proven time and time again but what good are facts when you don't care.

Also the US should always be blamed first.

Anyone who draws ANY comparison between our military and the way the Japanese acted and what the Germans did during WW2 needs to go open up a good history book. Becuase such comparisons only show how poor your grasp on history is.

When they are more understand of our lifestyle, we can talk. They dont give a rip about us why should we care? They came from all over to fight us so whatever happens to them, I could care less.
