Just another attempt ( Read : Brain washing.) to reduce the importance of human life .

I remember when a lot of people decried the tactics used by the Chineese to inculcate from the earliest age the 'thoughts of chairman Mao.'

But then again everyone forgets My Lai.

Then there's appologists...

Of course Holywood has done a great job of glorifying the taking of life of all kinds....and now we have video games ...

Anyone who thinks that all this has no effect on society cannot have either been to war or just doesn't care.

Patriotism is the last hiding place of scoundrels..it has been said, with regard to those who would justify putting you in danger at any cost.

I am glad that the guys (soldiers) I/we pay (tax dollars) to kill the "bad guys" are wanting to do thier job as they've been trained- my money is being well spent (in that case)

In addition,

I would like to know where they teach US soldiers to "shoot first" without provocation or cause.

My father volunteered to serve. He volunteered to serve in a conflict predicated on lies and deception. He came back wounded and bitter about what his government had asked him (and forced others) to do. He's not proud of what he did. War is not inevitable, it's a choice, and a weak one at that.

But is it a choice made by folks who value life, of folks who find pleasure in killing?

I think we all know the answer to that rhetorical question.

Get rid of all the goverments and religions and that would solve the majority of the worlds problems. Ain't gonna happen in our life. As far as I'm concerned, more people have died from organize religion than the souls they have saved. The importance of human life is only superceded by the respect of human life, something that the world has never achieved as of yet.

I have agree with you about the "predicated on lies and deception" comment. Thats the nature of goverments and the unbridled amibitions of wealth and power. I don't have the solution for this, it's human nature.

Thats what seperates us from the animal world. We kill not for survival, but for wealth and power, must be our enlarged brains.

And you wonder why I have such high regard for human nature?

Good for them. It will teach those insurgants to be a bit more carefull in the future.

To bad they were not able to get all 7. I can't help but think a properly laid claymore by the door of the house wouldn't have done the trick.

Placement at the perimeter of the kill-zone would be more effective.

Great story.

Has anyone but me read Michael Yon's blog in Iraq? Full of great stories like that.

True, I have no idea what this house looked liked, and was never in the military. But I have played a lot of games some online where ambush situations do happen. I have done this before, just online...

I would have set up a SAW to fire across the path they were taking. Then set up everyone else to pour fire from behind.

Look for a nice choke point to set up a claymore or two, I prefer remote detonating. Wait until they are in said place, fire the claymores and open up.

I couldn't help but to think the same thing. You wonder what sort of changes take place with such a person over the years to come.

As for killing those who want to kill us, the Iraqis in question didn't come to our house to kill us, the 9/11 guys certainly, but these guys were, with very few exceptions I'll wager, very unlikely to come to the US to try to kill any of us.
