You never bought a car before or what? Dealer asks for 30K and you offer 25K and so on till you get to a happy number.

That is a good thing tho. It is not going to be the soldier they are rescuing but to prevent further soldiers from being held hostage. Too bad we don't have more stuff like that, assuming they carry it thru to the end.

I agree. Both sides carry a LOT of guilt in the situation. I just believe that the Palestinians are "more in the wrong" than the Israelis. Which I must admit is largely irrelevant by now....

They both need to just shut up and get along. They're fighting over small, mostly worthless pieces of real estate, fueled by a pointless and moronic hatred of each other.

I also think that we should stop giving money and aid to ANY of them-- both Palestinians AND Israel.

At this point, I say we should leave them to their own devices, let them fight it out if they insist, and if it leads to their mutual destruction.... then good riddance.

I'm just over being caught in the middle of the whole ridiculous issue.

In spite of my trying to look at both sides of this thing, I have no doubt that were I an Israeli, I'd be wanting to do some serious head-knocking also.

I just don't think it's going to achieve the results they want. How long has this thing been going on? It's like trying to untangle a knot by pulling on both ends as hard as you can.

Not true (the last sentence). If they had a legitimate cause, why did Arafat turn down the peace proposal that Israel offered that gave them 95% of what they asked for? Because they don't want peace. They want Israel removed from the planet.

Just to clear it up.
Better check your history. The Palestinians were kicked out of Arab countries, not run out by Israel. Alll Israel has done is re-take what the Arabs captured in the 6 Day War.

Lets not forget how they were in collusion with the Arab armies to help wipe out the Isrealis with promises of some spoils of war.

You do raise a good point Emmerich....

But try telling that to all the Jew-haters.

They will never see this as anything but poor, little downtrodden Palestinians fighting the mean, old evil cash-wielding, media-controlling Jews.

Many Arabs and Palestinians do want Israel removed from the planet, that's why Hamas won't even recognize the country. Many also don't feel that way, though, and that's why there have been negotiations in the past. Like any people their opinions are not uniform.

I've never been to the Holy Land but I do know that living in the Palestinian areas is no piece of cake. You must go through Israeli checkpoints to get to a lot of places and things like refugee tent camps and bombed-out buildings must serve as a constant reminder of the ongoing conflict. I would imagine that if you grow up in the Palestinian territories, you probably have at least one relative who was killed in the conflict.

From my vantage point this is not all the fault of the Israeilis, who seem to want a peaceful solution, but that's not what you're told if you're a Palestinian or an Arab. So what appears as evil intent to one man seems a legitimate cause to another.

Hell, even in USA our opinions are not uniform. There always will be a deviance from the "norm". Therefore, the question is: What is the "norm" over there? Is it a few bad apples in an otherwise good barrel or is it a rotten barrel with a few good apples. Well, assuming their elections were not rigged, they elected Hamas. That tells me that it is a few good apples in a barrel of rotten apples.
