Still havent told me. A wife and 3 dogs require 7 seats? And remember to leave out the pansy stuff like enclosed trailer and protecting the poor dogs and outdoor riding equipment from harsh elements, we're talking necessity and practicality. One atv in the back a minimal trailer and an extended cab is all you need. Unless you're what you are. Which you've made clear. And the only reason you said a SUV is more socially acceptable.... is women. So, again with the what the hell ever, Georgie boy. Break out the loafers and hit the clubhouse.
What is the rating on that truck, whatever it is? Anything can tow anything but how far or how safe is a different story.

Edit: OK. One in the bed and one in the trailer. You have 3 large dogs and you want them to cram in the back? Where does the gear go then? So what is the difference between my Excursion and the F250 with extended cab, besides the more manly feeling you get? Mileage is about the same.

Sorry I am to pansy for a manly man like yourself but such is life. Outdoor riding equipment rusts. More exposure, more deterioration. Less deterioration, longer service life. That is plain and simple. I spent good money on a machine and I don't intend to have it go to pieces any faster than it has to. Now, if it were your $30K vehicle, or your living room, would you mind if I came in from working under the cars or covered with mud and lying all over? If you lived in a dump or you were so wealthy you could afford to replace it every day, more power to you. I am neither. Which are you?

My dogs travel with me. If it costs a little more in vehicle to enclose them in comfort, why not? If I had gotten a truck, I'd have to have an enclosed top anyways and then I cannot leave them there in the hot summer or they would be dead when I got back. I could try that experiment with your kids if you want. I could have gotten a similar truck with crew cab and extended bed for about $500 less at the time. So, let me cram your 3 kids in the back of an extended cab and dump luggage on them over several hours of driving. If you think that is going to be fun, have at it. I'll do it on your 3 kids and you tell me how you like it. Yes, our dogs are our kids to us. Different things are valued differently to different people. In my circle, it is me and the wife and our dogs followed by others.

So who rides the 1 ATV? Me or the wife?

I said a smaller trailer read the whole post. ATVs more plastic than anything, I haven't ever seen any rusted out. And just because you dont have an enclosed trailer doesn't mean you can't change your clothes, Chauncy.

Hah, yeah borrow my kids dude. They're yours.

Well, that's weird then since my 03 Honda Rincon did rust. Yes, it was outside and covered by a good tarp. So where do you think all 770# is from? That much plastic? Engine is plastic too? ECM is plastic too? I have seen the difference between ATVs that sat in the elements and locked up. The former got messed with by kids, seats crack, etc, etc. The latter group got higher trade in or resale value. The wife and I worked for our stuff. We protect our purchases. Sure, they are not museum quality but we don't let it go to hell either. Like I said, either you live in a dump and don't think much of it or you are so rich you can change stuff out every week. I am neither so I have to take care of our stuff.

Sorry, the wife and I are not going to do a strip show outside where there could be kids present. Like I said, it is a convenience thing. Go inside, change to riding clothes, ride, come back and wipe down, change out into street clothes and do whatever. Why should we rough it without? Just to prove my manhood like you?

I drive for 5 or 6 hrs before I stop. So, if you think it is comfortable for your kids with the riding gear, good for you. My wife and dogs are not property that I let go to hell like you might do.

Here's the deal. I go on a vacation and it costs me money. I want to enjoy myself. If I wanted to cram into a small vehicle and feel nervous driving it with a load like what I carry and be minimalistic about it, why don't I just stay at home? I go on vacations to enjoy myself. If I am going to not enjoy myself, why not stay at home and work? I get paid to work and not have a good time. If I am paying, I want to have a good time.

Puss, you cant change in the cab? Kids present, in the middle of the wilderness. PS Bryce canyon is a cake walk. I lived in Utah, Perry.

Shoot, my mom's more manly than you. A: Learn how to drive. I never had trouble with a grade original eng/trans. 270'000 miles. B: get some white pennyloafers and prove your manly-ness to your woman. And tell her thanks for raising my children.

Besides, you dont have a riding suit? 1 piece? Or you dont mind dog drool piss, feces, after 6 hour in a car, they gotta be rank. But the mean ole dirt that vacuums right on up is going to devalue your car more? Of course you are pretty "fancy" I'm sure you keep plastic covers on all your seats. Enjoy yourself all you want in turn, you're a wimp. Don't your tires get dirty on the SUV? Keep a brush handy and the wheel wetter.

There are 2 options here. You are either too stupid to understand that I don't want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a vehicle and trash it or you live in squalor. Either way, I don't think I can explain it to you.

Yes, your mom is more manly than I am. So what? You seem so eager to prove how manly you are, it makes me wonder about what sort of man you really are under the pretense. I have yet to meet a guy that is constantly shoving his manliness around.

As to driving, there is probably little you can teach me. But if you want to go up scenic bypass 12 and show me how to drive a 5.3L vortec engine truck at more than 30 mph towing an enclosed trailer at over 6000 feet elevation, I'll gladly go there and see how you do it. If the truck won't accelerate past that, it won't do that. Before we go any further, you got any money on you that would make it worth my time to recreate the trip?

Unlike you, I don't have to prove manliness to anybody so all your jests will probably amount to little. If my wife was that dissatisfied she could have walked long ago. She is independent. Unlike you, I didn't marry some bimbo whose greatest achievement is to spread her legs and pop out a bun out of the oven. In your case, I understand that she cannot leave you. In my case, if she had felt she needed more, she could have left. So, in my case, I know. In your case, you will not know.

This has now gone from stupid, to stupider to stupidest.

But like a freeway wreck, it is hard to turn away.

I do have a riding suit, helmet and boots. They get dirty. Hence the trailer. It keeps the dirt there and not in the car. Feels like I am explaining to a pig the necessity of not having crap all over your living areas.

Well, if that is what your wife and kids do in the car I am truly sorry. However, please don't confuse my family with your's.

Well, how do I explain it to someone who has no comprehension or appreciation of the good items around them? Mud and dirt doesn't always come off. Until I get to a wash and vacuum, I don't want to travel miles and miles with dirt in the back and having my clean stuff get all dirty. Like I said, I can't explain it to a person who lives in the ghetto about keeping things clean and decent.

If being a "man" is being like you, living in a mess, I don't want any part of it. Fortunately, I don't get saddled with that sort of baggage.

The town's movers and shakers (and anyone with sufficient means) lived close to the center of town. Lawyers, doctors, bankers, etc., all had houses near the center of town. They could easily walk to work.

As you moved out from the center, neighborhoods grew poorer and poorer until you got to the shanty towns in the outskirts of the city.

Soon after the end of WWII, with military production being diverted to making more cars for the public's consumption, the old design model was turned on its head and downtowns fell apart with the poor moving in to the central area of the city. The middle class, and anyone who could qualify for a home loan under the GI Bill, moved to the suburbs.

If you look at the history of Los Angeles, that is exactly what happened soon after the end of WWII.

Things are changing, however. We have been looking for a place for our oldest daughter to live. She is got her head set on a downtown loft. We went looking for a place to buy (or more realistic at this point, rent). Buildings that had been previously been occupied by the homeless, by rats and by sweatshops are now being turned into "yuppie lofts."

Moving back to the center of towns is the in thing to do.

Yeah that sums it up pretty well. Its hip around here to move back to the city. New Haven for example has some amazing homes. 100 year old 3k square feet masterpiece's! They cost a good buck in their day, and were near the center so the movers and shakers lived in them. If you took one of those old homes and placed it in Milford it would be a $700k-$1m++ property. Near $2m if its on the water. But you can get them in New Haven for $400k, $300k, or less then $200k. So some area's are getting hip to move to again.

I'm going to do just the opposite, I want to move up the CT coast to a more rural town. Still near the water but with more New England charm. I can deal with the short commute.

When we built our house, we found out where the new developments were. By the time our house was built, it was the 3rd house in the area. 2nd one was across the street from me and 1st one was way the hell up the hill. Seems like after a year or two, the prices of property went up drastically. I'm thinking that is the way to go if you are going to build. Find a new development and before it gets going, be one of th firsts.

Not my fault. Speaking of buns out of the oven, maybe this BIMBO is more to your liking. If not, try your local ghetto. I'm sure there are a few there that are available.
