Well it is something to consider, how would you treat a virus like this in bees and if they are treatable what would prevent them from from becoming immune to the treatment?

Breed for tolerance first, immunity in the long-term. The life cycle of the insect is so short that traditional breeding methods work fine. Also, a short life cycle means that it is usually not cost-effective to treat bees except with very inexpensive antibiotics. And they are ineffective against viruses.

FWIW there are more bees in my back yard at the end of this summer than there were in the begining.

I read somewhere that eating a normal pack of Bugler could kill you. Almost hard to believe but that does explain the nasty headache I got that time I ate half of one.

It depends on how much you absorb and what your health is.

Little kids eat cigarette butts and end up in the hospital. Tobacco harvesters can end up with Green Tobacco Sickness if they are not careful in how they cut and hang the plant. Nicotine is a pretty potent poison. As with any poison the dose is what matters.

If you are not used to it just putting one of those little packages of snuff under your liip for five minutes will make you dizzy and nausious....don't ask how I know.

I'm not gonna Google for confirmation, I'm on a roll here.

If I remember correctly, people once used tobacco to cure intestinal parasites. Imagine what a joy that treatment must have been.
