Do you now. Well. As far as underlying male chauvinism is concerned. Not only do I have no problem with the concept of a woman as president. I happen to think that Condi Rice might make a good one. She at least has some clue about foreign affairs and understands that there is in fact a world out there besides just the latest poll. As for the *****. I call it like I see it. She is an unlikeable person and a woman. Were she a man I might call her a bastard but she isn't therefore *****. I dont like her socialist tendencies. I emigrated to the USA in part to get the hell away from that kind of crap. I don't like her liberal desire to stuff government into every part of ones private life. That's fundamentally un-American and I hate it. From my previous posts on the subject you know well my distaste for slick willie and I dont regard her as being in any way fundamentally different, other than perhaps more socialist in her outlook. Be that as it may I do think we will likely be stuck with her for the next four years at least.

- Peter.

Your joking right? She has accomplished nothing as Sec. of State except alienate most of world against us. Along with her boss the President, they both belong in the diplomatic hall of shame.

See, if you say you don't like her politics or you don't trust her you appear to be thoughtful and decent.

But name calling just makes you look bad.

See, to me Condi looks like a lightweight who just does whatever the puppetmiester says to do.

My friend at work thinks she is hot though.

She may have some clue, but it's the wrong one.

You may have to rethink that one considering the new Republicans are the ones who are and have stuffed government into our private lives.

Exactly how have they done so? I have experienced no unwarrented government intrusion into my private life, and that's from someone who'se recently been thru the whole naturalization process to become a US citizen.

Warrantless wiretaps, the Patriot Act, Dept of Homeland Security, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, NORTHCOM,Real ID cards, the desire to make medical procedures the government's decision (making abortion illegal & Gonzalez v. Oregon), anti-gay marriage amendment...
I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them right now.

I think this current bunch of republicans have done more damage to the grass roots of the republican party than can be seen for now.
The current repubs are not conservatives; The way they ( and the dems) violate their oath to support, preserve and defend the Constitution, they should all be impeached.

Yeppers, let's get the torches and pitchforks and clean out both major parties.

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them right now.
They can wiretap a citizen without a warrant? I didn't know that.

IIRC, the Democrat minority in the senate was clambering for DHS before the Administration got on board with it. I'm sure that assumption would be easy to prove wrong.

What is wrong with Northcom?

What is wrong with ID cards?

I'm with you on medical decisions. Same with the gays stuff. Nobody's business but your own. It's the age-old question of who owns your body -- you or the State.

Oh come now... she has been better than say Albright. She is also very intelligent and tough. It has been too long since we HAVE thrown our weight around. Every other country in the world be it France or China or Germany or Libya looks out for THEMSELVES first. we are the only nation that has consistently put our own self interests last. That includes this war. If France had invaded Iraq you would be damn sure that ELF would be running the oil fields and Iraq would now be a integral part of Greater France.

I think Condi would have made a much better candidate and a better president than any of the dwarves running on either side.

Hillary is the consummate political hack. She has done NOTHING in her two terms as Senator from NY. She has not created a single job in NY, helped with the outrageous taxes in my (former) state, nor done anything except hold fund raisers. Oh and she has played the 'little woman' card anytime it suits her. I can imagine her meeting say the president of China or Iran to take them on over some tough issue and pulling a cry-baby stunt like she did on TV the other week. She would get us laughed off the planet with that attitude. Did Margret Thatcher go crying and weeping on TV to the British people when the Argentine government invaded the Falklands?

Condi has already stood up to the German government and made them see things her way. Too bad she is too smart to want to put herself through a Presidential race.

Rudy at least cleaned up NYC and seems to be the kind of tough person we need in control during shaky times. Granted he is a free trader, but that is about the only traditional Republican thing he stands for, well that and Defense...

Obama and Edwards are what I call Haircuts. They both look good in suits but don't have much to say for themselves. Obama is great at talking about "HOPE" but he has no plans for this country that I can find. Of course with Oprah stumping for him he will probably have every mindless housewife in middle America voting for him. Edwards, well he at least looks good on TV.

McCain, well I just don't like him very much. He seems to think he is entitled to this nomination and if you are against him, then you are against war heroes. It is not that I don't like him (haircut factor) but he is too like the Democrats to be a Republican...

Rommney and Huckabee are just not viable in my book...

All in all I am very disappointed in this crop of dwarves. Where is the Ronald Reagan or Teddy Roosevelt or even FDR of today?

I think I might just throw my vote away on the Libertarian or maybe vote Socialist this year. Just to give throw them a bone...

Oh and whoever compared Obama to James Earl Carter better not be right. Jimmy was one of the worst things to happen to this country in a long time... Remember "Malaise" sheesh... and now he is the "Elder Statesman" Cripes!

Say it with me..."There is NOTHING wrong with the Department of Homeland Security" We are the Government and we are here to help. Seriously I work for DHS and we are trying to get things done. the entire Department is only a few years old and has not even been fully integrated yet. It is made up of 22 different services and agencies for crying out loud

The REAL-ID is an initiative to get a driver's license that actual can be used as an ID It will require that people going for a license have real documents detailing their citizenship status. You can be a citizen, resident alien, H1-B non-immigrant worker, anything as long as you are LEGALLY in this country. It is designed so that you could use this ID to cross the border, get into airports, federal buildings, etc. I see nothing wrong with it. What it will not do is force every state to adopt the exact same license or anything like that. It is not a FEDERAL ID or a NATIONAL ID CARD. States can even opt out of the program, but those states licenses will not be valid ID at an airport or to cross into Canada. Seems like a no-brainer to me to adopt the REAL-ID program.

The patriot Act is a pain in the A$$, but it is an important part of national security. Ask anybody who works in the financial industry about the pain of implementing Patriot Act regulations. You now need proof of who you are before you can open an account to trade stocks and other securities. You also need to track people making trades to make sure that they are not coming from a country such as Iran or Cuba and that there are no outstanding warrants on them for crimes like terrorism.

The wiretapping thing was stopped. You have to remember that illicit non-court-ordered wiretaps were normal procedure for the FDR, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson administrations. I guess people forget about that.

I agree that this administration has been down the wrong path a lot of the time. The 9/11 attack and aftermath seems to have been too much for GWB to handle. However, cutting and running is NOT the answer any more than Bill Clinton throwing a couple cruise missiles at Osama after the USS Cole was attacked.

They tried, but it was deemed unconstitutional.

Republican Congress with Republican President created it.

I didn't say it was 'wrong', but it puts the military in position to operate as law enforcement, which it's not supposed to do. Also, combined with a law that expanded Presidential powers to declare martial law and revision of the Insurrection Act, Northcom will be in charge of pacifying the citizenry should it get too riled up.

The Real ID card would have your personal information in barcode, scannable by anyone with a scanner. The DHS is looking at including RFIDs into the Real ID card so the government would know where you are at all times.

Republicans aren't what they used to be.

It appears the Hillary's new york citizens disagree with your assesment of her performance as they re elected her with over 60% of the votes.

Republican Congress with Republican President created it.

Too typical of not answering the question.
The same tactic is used when it is pointed out the the tax cuts under RRR actually increased funds into the Treasury.
The typical response is--but the deficit went up.
Of course the deficit went up, Congress went on a spending spree. But that is beside the point. The point was that tax cuts increased revenues.

Is the point to win an argument, or to make correct decisions?

The point in Bot's post was that the dems were in pushing the legislation--yes it was a republican administration. Thats beside the point (again). The point is that the dems were for it before they were against it.
