I thought they just agreed and are in the process of shutting down their reactor?

So they say. But given their past performance, would you trust them or would you believe they might shut it down and start something else up or stop the shutdown halfway?

Halfway sounds about right. More hidden programs probably underground. Other programs being exported. They are not to be trusted and they will be back again. Radical regimes will not quit. They will just stall, hide, and deny.

Except they were the invaders/assaulters. Which would make their opponents the ones who took their shots. And throwing up a wall halfway through Germany for ~5 decades. Or nuke two cities in exchange for a naval base.

Exactly. If you refuse to even meet with an adversary and hear their complaints, and offer your counter claims, not much chance of making any sort of progress. Doesn't mean you're offering to give them the store.

I've heard radio interviews with people in the Sec. of State category in other nations describe meetings at international summits and they say there are two types of discussions: without the Americans present and with them. When we(them) are there, it's more of a "listen up people -- here's how it's gonna be." I remember some press conferences back in '03 where the Dubbers was getting all haughty with the European press questions and it's a similar vibe.

You must have missed my last post where I mentioned the death threats against the judge who ruled in favor of evolution.

There's that S word again. For a long time people like you called it "cut and run" until it got old. I think it's time for you to come up with a new phrase again as the S word is getting old too.

Our govt doesn't always honor agreements either or the constitution for that matter. The anti-ballistic missile treaty, torture, and warrantless wiretapping come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are more.

Torture, what torture? Warrant-less wiretapping is illegal? Are you sure? Under all circumstances? But I agree that the gov doesn't always act within the bounds of the constitution. If it did then there would be no need for a Supreme Court. Often non-gov entities and individuals don't know exactly what is or is not constitutional. If we all did did, then there would be no need for a Supreme Court in that instance, either. I wonder what the win-loss ratio v the gov is in Supreme Court cases. Is it constant over time? I have no idea but I'll bet somebody somewhere keeps up with those stats. B |
