Boxed Wine

I know that no one puts their good wines in boxes, yet the box with its poly liner is perfect for storing wines as it allows no oxygen to contact the wine.
Having said that, I enjoy a glass of Merlot or Cab in the evening. I drink so little that bottles tend to go bad before I finish.
So the question in this--which is the best of the boxed wines?

A couple years ago we have a "blind" tasing of chardonnay by Peter Vella, Franzia and the "control" was a 2004 Mondavi Private Reserve.

After a lot of slurpping . . . the Mondavi was the first pick nearly all, but the Vella had some advocates, and the Franzia was a consistent third. The most consistent comment about the boxed juice was the sugar content being higher than the Mondavi, which apparently was a good thing for some.

The very best boxed wine is the one you prefer.
Why ask?

You could put your open bottle in the fridge to slow it down some and take it out 60 minutes prior to each use.

Or you might try a Gallo Burgundy. Should be avail in a box. It'll need to stay in the fridge too probably.

Simply because I cannot try them all.
I wanted others' opinions

This is what I don't get: Placing a liquid that contains a percentage of an effective solvent into a poly container. Doesn't the alcohol leach some naughty things from the poly?

My advice: Find some half-assed inexpensive Napa Valley merlot sold in a glass bottle that you find drinkable, and don't sweat the spoilage.

Just like the migration away from cork to twist tops . . . going from bottle to 3L bags is happening, and there is some good stuff out there.

MS-I'm not a big wine drinker so I can't speak for what's good or not but I do notice a lot more of the names of stuff I recognize as not the cheap stuff showing up in 3L boxes as opposed the 5L party wine.

I prefer a nice Thunderbird or perhaps a fine MD2020 in the evening sometimes . . . .

The Neanderthal that I am, I buy all my wine in boxes, and enjoy every sip. California wines only though.

Maybe they should use Nalgene bottles?
