Oh yeah, you'll probably drop $200k a year easy on a boat that size if you have a full time captian, and fish it. Maybe more.
The Chris Craft costs just over $10k a year just for storage and insurance, ie just to say you own it, thats before you turn the key, and actualy take care of it... My friend spent $2m over 8 or so years to race his Swan. He won Newport to Bermuda once, thats what it costs to compete. You can bet the big boys pay a lot more than that! I would love to know the operating costs of say the J Class Ranger, OMFG it must be larger than the GDP of half the countries in Africa! ![]() ![]()

3Rd largest Sloop
Think about the fuel for Williams Gulfstream (Roundtrip) just to set foot on the deck.[He moored it New Zealand]
"The massive vessel, constructed for American property developer John Williams of Georgia, was built by Alloy Yachts International, of Auckland, and was one of the glamour vessels at the recent America’s Cup. Everything about the Georgia is massive: A total sail area more than five times the size of the average suburban building block. A 200-foot carbon fibre mast - the biggest ever built - will just clear the Bridge of the America’s at the entrance to the Panama Canal. The world’s largest carbon fibre boom - 59 feet. Specially designed furlers, captive winches and deck gear to handle the sheet loads of 'Georgia’ homeward bound photograph by Ivor Wilkins approximately 20 tonnes. Beam of 33.14 feet and a draft, when the centreboard is fully extended, of 24 feet. Below decks is 100 percent luxury, with a private dining salon for ten, four double guest cabins with ensuites bathrooms and toilets, a master suite which extends the full width of the vessel, a dedicated exercise room, a restaurant style galley, a large crew living area and commercial laundry. Assisting to provide the luxury are Grundfos CR4-80 multistage pumps sets - two duty pump sets and two stand-by pump sets - which provide the pressure boosting system for fresh water supply. The pumps provide drinking water, and supplies to the galley, the bathrooms and toilets, and the laundry. A spokesman for Grundfos New Zealand says the CR system - like all things on the Georgia is substantially larger than that found on any other yacht. The systems were fitted during the construction stage with Grundfos being chosen because of its reputation for reliability and performance, he said. While it is unusual to have such a massive fresh water pumping system on a yacht, the decision reflects the magnitude of the Georgia, which is simply awesome in size and technology. Georgia has a range of 4500 nautical miles at 12 knots with a sprint speed of 14 knots. It is expected to reach speeds in excess of 16 knots under sail."

The yellow boat is a 77 Hatt enclosed. New delivery was last Nov- around $6M. The white one is the or one of the most advanced sportfishers in the world. Yes it's a tower. Custom boat with two 16V2000CR at 2400HP driving v-drives- plus a center direct drive jet. Top speed is near 50 knots. "DD" was closer to $12M. I drive a little 65 footer. I like being a peanut in a 65 footer.

a wise man said... "if you have to ask how much the fuel costs, you can't afford the boat"

My friend was spending north of $100k a year to race his Swan 46, in the mid to late 90's. To race a 150ft wood boat? OMFG, it has to be a high seven or eight digit number. Usualy on power boats of that size its roughly 10% of the purchase price to keep it up and use it. So say you pay $25m, its going to cost $2.5ish a year to own and use it. Some are more some are less, but thats ballpark. I doubt the Arab's that drop $300m on these things are spending $30m a year to keep them up, but they might be. The numbers get pretty stupid fast in that very thin air. Paul Allen has a nice boat. ![]()

I never liked the exterior look of that one almost looks like a converted fishing trawler. The Riseing Sun (Oracle) looks classy.

I dislike both, to gaudy and modern. With new boats they just try to stick as much crap as possible in them.
![]() ![]() Delphine, or a Trumpy are more my style, maybe a commuter. I like my boats to look good, and I want them to look and feel like boats. Not floating condo's. I don't want huge windows, I want ports. I want tons of wood to, not frozen snot.
