I think the problem with that particular La-Z-Boy Retailer was that they said one thing, then tried to pull a fast one AND say it was something else...then they get caught...

Kerry, it's best you walked away from that deal...first off, did you really want some piece of furniture that's been on the floor of a store, taking the abuse that YOU NEVER SAW (sticky, sugar-jazzed, un-attended kids running around and jumping on everything), or some lard-a55ed mofo leaving small rings of butt-fudge on the fabric...

Ew-w-w-w!

Best thing? Write a note to the store and "cc" the Main Offices of La-Z-Boy to let them know that store needs a better class of management...

Obviously, the level of management at that store is interested in a check only and not in the Company's reputation...I'd be willing to bet that there are a few folks in your area that would be happy to have a job managing that store in a more customer-friendly manner than what's being done now...

complain enough and you will get a new one for free or a seriously reduced rate.

I like IKEA even more now since its no pressure to buy any form of furniture. The only pressure on you is when the couch falls on you off your truck!

I dont mind floor models, scratch and dent, or customer returned items(on certain things)

my laptop, my sweet IKEA chair, my TV, both of my cars, my tool box, my cameras all floor models, scratch and dent, customer return item or used.

Nothing wrong with it if it was taken care of and or comes with some form of warranty

My first real job was with a hydraulic firm. The CEO beat it into everyone that only the truth would do. How can a customer make a decision if they are not dealing with the truth?

And when they discover you are so honest you would rather lose a sale than tell a lie they will come back over and over. Eventually they will buy something and that is your chance to make them a customer for life.

He called it making a slow dime instead of a fast nickel.

I wish there were more just like your old CEO. It's unfortunate but greed has become the name of the game. Our county and world economy would not be in the shape we are in if it were not for the extremely high level of greed by today's CEO's and corporate execs.

You look at the companies that are failing and you can directly trace that back to a company that put its profitability in front of its customers needs. Yes, the whole reason to be in business is to make a profit but you can't screw the customer to make those profits. Commodites would be the exception. If you always do the right thing and give people a quality product and not rip them off, you will be very successful long term. Unfortunately, short term gains have become more important than long term customer retention and doing the right thing.

If you are still in the market for a recliner, you should look into an antigravity recliner from homemedics. Those are extraordinarily ergonomic and come with a lot of features, such as heater and/or vibrate/massage. But the best feature is the total recline, feet up, head down with your hips still at the center of gravity.

It's almost like an exercise while relaxing, your brain gets excellent bloodcirculation, while your heart muscle is working to pump blood into your legs. 1/2 hour and you are fresh like the morning dew. Guaranteed.

I love to deal with companies like this one.

When my business was slow during a previous recession, I became a new car salesman. I refused to play all the lying games that are common in that industry. Most of my deals were with a $50 flat commission, but I got referrals, and sold 18-23 cars a month. I made my money on volume. I no longer sell cars, and have returned to my former profession.
