My HOA is a pain in the ass at times, but I'm glad it's there. The neighborhood looks nice and when I go to sell my house, I want it to still be looking good. I got a letter once because my kids had left the hose partially showing from behind the bush where the faucet is. I guess you have to take the bad with the good . . . .

They were afraid I was going to "hose up" the neighborhood, no doubt.

I just sold the remains of the car.

body tub with rolling chasis and a vin/title. the person buying it needs the vin and title for a project car so its fine by me. I still have the motor($1k), tranny with 5 speed swap kit( $1500), and all that crap on ebay.

wooot

I could have made at least $9k off this car but I guess I'll have to settle for... $7k

damn you HOA.

I wish I had a nice ferrari. I'd have to work on it all the time

I kinda want to check out a W124 wagon I found for sale in FL.. family owned car from day one, all records, 90k on it... absolutly mint condition...

I too hate HOA's I had multiple run ins with mine when I was living in an HOA community. First they said I had too many cars (3) for the number of drivers (2) After I sold a car I found out that the A-hole who turned me in had five cars for two drivers and wanted the extra parking space I was using! Of course HE was on the board so it was OK for him...

It got so bad that I told the 'enforcer' go get the hell off my property and that they could go ahead and sue me if they felt like it. This in a community where a lot of people started holding back their HOA dues in protest! I was selling the place and had stuck a "FOR SALE" sign in the yard. Apparently even that was against the rules!

I feel for all you guys having to put up with HOA blackshirts! I know I could never do that again.

When I moved away from there, I made sure that an development I move into was an older one without any boards. I am not a redneck and keep things neat and clean, however MY HOME IS MY CASTLE and I if I want to paint the place purple I will do so (not that I would, but you get the idea)

My next place will be on acreage with no close neighbors and hopefully no zoning to stop me from putting up a pole barn or large garage. I have been trying to put up a garage at my current house, but have been thwarted by the zoning board as the building I want to put up is "too large for a garage"
I only want a building that can house five cars, a shop, and the lawn equipment

I have a friend who also had multiple run ins with his HOA. He ran for the board on a 'reform platform' and beat one of the NAZIs who had ben on the board for decades. If you really want to change things, try running for the board... Most of the board members in these places have been running unopposed for years and people would welcome a change.

Before the market crashed, I was going to get a new house in a HOA place. They even provided me a copy of the rules so I could go over them and see whether I agreed with them or not.

My current place has a HOA. I have never had any sort of trouble with them. In fact, they have been pretty co-operative with me. The few times we had a dispute, we managed to settle it to the satisfaction of all. The HOA did not want any shacks outside in the yard so no unattached buildings. My 10X12 shed sits pretty nicely out there. Why? Because I talked to them and they told me that if it was going to be a mess, they would enforce the rules. If it was a decent looking one, they would write me a waiver. One of the neighbors put up a scrawny looking one up there made of sheet metal. It was noisy when the wind blew and one day it caved in a little. HOA told him to remove it OR ELSE. Case solved.

All I can say is.....if you live in a HOA under Stalin, you chose to live there.....

I'd never live in one....no matter what.

Don- your selling the car so don't sweat it. Their are old people in the universe who have no clue about the vaulable work you were doing in attempting to restore a fine piece of automotive history. My guess, if it was an old Chevy or Model T the instigating party wouldn't have bothered.

If you put enough of them together, you could make walls out of them. Sort of like Les Nessman (on WKRP in Cincinnati)!
