Trader Joes is a fine little store, but my all-time favorite grocery store has to be JUNGLE JIM'S, in Fairfield, OH. Those of you who live close are privileged, indeed.
They will pack and ship orders for those of us far away, but nothing beats the experience of actually walking thru the store.
The website gives some idea, but not the various aromas.

ALDI's are popping up all over the place here in CT. 3 in the Greater Hartford area within the past 1.5 years and they built a huge distribution center.

Strange stores.

What's so strange about ALDI? I was hoping Lidl would be able to follow suit here and give them some German competition, but I guess they put off their expansion plans into the US due to the weak economy.

Wow, I had no idea! I just looked up their homepage. They already got 1000 stores back East! Well, I haven't encountered such stores on the West Coast.

ALDI was leading the pack in preprocessed/packaged foods. At least in Germany.

I have to travel 200 miles to St.Louis to shop at Trader Joe's.

In another life, I lived a block away from one when I lived in California;... pretty sweet.

Shopped there a few times, nothing much to write home about. I was there because the wife had to go in to work and it was nearby. I much prefer to do my shopping at the Super Wal*Mart because it cuts down my trips as much as possible. I get most of what I want there. Food and other household stuff. The rest I have to go somewhere else. OTOH, if I went to a food store, I'd still have to shop for other things in several other places.

Think before you post.

Wide discrepancies exist in our great land between cost per patient vs. outcomes per patient.

Some, no make that many, people in private biz, doctors, big Pharma, and HMOs included, are rip-off artist sharks. At least with Whole Foods, you get a snazzy looking store and a happening hot food and deli counter to go along with their high prices.

If rich people want way more medical tests than they need, and transplanted organs aplenty, I'm all like 'have at it.'

But we are bankrupting this country behind the notion that whatever the doctor says is gospel, no matter what it costs. It's outta control.

You might like it when it gets there.

I was not an early adapter but I like them now.

Canned salmon is usually wild caught. It should say on the can. Plus, it's more economical. From what I read, it's nutritionally sound.

Fresh and frozen are often farmed Atlantic salmon (HWALLP!) (sould of losing cookies)

Salmon farming is a travesty. Is hastening the decline of wild fisheries in a big way and tastes like crap. Has to have food coloring added just to be pinkish red.

I stopped because of there beer carding policy. They take your license and the license of anyone you are with and put your license number into the computer. Thats not flying with me and I informed the store clerk that I wouldn't shop their anymore because of that policy.

Their is no reason on earth Trader Joes needs to put my license number into their computer so I can buy a 6 pack. F them, now I go to the package store next door and its cheaper.
I work at Target and thats our policy to but we swipe it. We do it because fake ID's are getting better and better and If they happen to get caught selling beer to a minor its like a $250,000 fine.

Another place I won't buy beer from.

I support the little guys because they don't do this BS, and I rather support a local person's business.

Someone may have mentioned this, but Trader Joe's and Aldi are owned by the same company.

I hate Trader Joe's. No, its not because of any of their policies but because according to my wife they have the best chocolates selection outside of any specialty gourmet chocolate shop. Every time we go there, she "disappears" for just a few moments and the shopping cart is about $30 heavier than when I last saw it!

Of course, I probably could understand it better if I liked chocolate. I then have to listen to a week's worth of, "Why did you let me do that? Now I'm getting fat!" Right, like a man could ever stop a woman from eating chocolate!
