RIP Oct. 1968. There is still a tree in Rosemont PA where missing bark marks it's death.
I'll keep an eye out

1957 Chevy. Funky Blue color called "Tropical Torquoise". It was very low miles when I got it (1972) at under 20k as I recall. What a fun party car that was. Being a typical teenager, I decided to remove the perfectly smooth running 265 V8 & replace it wit a 327 from a 1963 Impala.

Those were some fun times!

Are you an alumnus? I know you mentioned your daughters going to 'Nova in another thread breifly (maybe I'm wrong?). Small world! Anyways, if I get really bored and/or want to take the mercedes out for a Sunday spin, I'll see if I can keep a close eye out for it. I lived on County Line the last two years, across from the hospital. Moved on to bigger and better things

Two very interesting, landmark cars, albeit targeted for somewhat different audiences.
Too bad Peugeot couldn't figure out how to sell cars in this country.

Rose colored 57 Chevy 6 cylinder 4 door.

Paid $300 for it. Financed it at the bank.

Engine let go after 3 months, leaving a spectacular cloud of smoke on the freeway.

My first car was a 1961 Ford Starliner (2-door hardtop), bought her in 1967 (at age 17) for $600.00 that I had saved up working at the local Ford dealership since 1964. Mine was an all white exterior with turquoise interior

I had her till 1972 when I traded her in (to pay the sales tax) on a 1967 Mercedes 230S 4 on the column with a full width front bench seat.

Had many a good time with both of them.

My first vehicle was a '55 Willy's station wagon (looked quite like a Cherokee). But that had no plates and I had no driver's license as I was not of age. No bother though, as a farm boy I could legally drive anywhere, as long as it was for farm business. And of course, I could drive on the farm for recreation; plenty of space for that. Plenty of fuel too; there was a gas pump in the garage. Not as much time though, what with all the cows.

My first vehicle with plates was a '72 Water Buffalo. My parents bought it for me so I could take my mother shopping when my father was out of town. Years later, I wrecked it and then traded it even up for a Fiat, my first actual car (although I had owned several pickups). No, I didn't fix the bike first.

1976 Dodge Charger with 400ci and twin 4bl carbs (carbs and intake added by PO). That engine was pulled and replaced after a rather bad incident during a race on a country road involving a 1978 Malibu. It was replaced with a 440 Max Wedge, Torqueflite 727 tranny, kept the carbs (Holley 650 cfms) and added new Edelbrock intake to accommodate the carbs.

After 3 years of working for my dad in his shop without pay, I got this car on my 16th birthday.

Imagine this car in white with tan top and interior.

1960 Simca Aronde....french made four door....it was a pretty decent looking little car, it handled sweetly but the engine and tranny was junk! It was about 30 years before I bought another french car and that was a peugot, which I only owned a few months.
