He abdicated his citizenship when he joined al-qaeda. Don't make it sound like he's average Joe on main street. Kill him before he uses his domestic knowledge against us, I'll shed no tears.

Certainly not. There clearly was a reason. Nonetheless, the issue is up for public political debate.

Short attention span Americans. Trials are too slow for them. Execute first, sort out facts later works fine in their minds until they're the ones under indictment.

In dealing with a rapidly evolving enemy, this country needs to respond in new ways. Its no secret that those guys want to kill us, and the more spectacular the better. Can we really waste much time being nice? A full trial for this bozo could be held up for years in the courts, further encouraging other 'persons' of his ilk to follow in his footsteps. The message needs to go out, loud and clear.

When you're at war, the enemy gets a bullet. He's been determined as the enemy by our government. Good enough for me.

If he wants to surrender, then give him his trial.

I doubt he'll surrender.

Obviously it's not OK for any government to kill its citizens without due process; including governments that always think they are in the right. It is also obvious that all national governments break their own rules whenever it serves their purposes. The US is no better or worse than any other nation. Political debate is fun, but pointless unless you actually have some political power.

All nations also have their share of knuckheads who think that their nation is always in the right, which is why they can get away with breaking their own laws at will. None of this has changed in several thousand years.

Fight fire with fire..Rumsfeld was the first one to figure out that this war wasnt going to be setteld on the deck of an aircraft carrier...we are fighting an ideaoligy...Does Al-Queda pick and choose which Americans to kill? No...they want to kill us all..I dont think the decision to exterminate Al-Queda members belong in a court room setting. In fact, since there are so many bleeding heart citizens in the U.S. why not take this issue global? IE: put a bounty on their heads..same as Bin Laden. As a recent convert to Islam, I know that the Muslim community is totally against Al-Queda...and the message they are sending to the world...Bottom line...I would rather these individuals are killed before they have the chance to kill more Americans.

Rumsfeld didn't know his butt from a warm rock.

I fail to see how this character fits in to any description of a "citizen". He is actively planning and participating in activities that are clearly considered war against the USA. I fail to see how the fact that he is US passport holder, I assume, is a problem? I would expect the government to kill me if I take up arms against them. This isn't some dude on vacation in Yemen. Hes hiding there. For a reason. Even if we captured him and brought him back, whats the point? To put him on trial like McVeigh? Just let the SEAL snipers get him and move on.

He didn't step down by choice, he was "asked" by his boss...
