Workplace Violence, again
work place violence is becoming a hot topic. not everyone in this world has their marbles in place and this is proof positive of that. many companies have no security plan in place to deal with the problem children. time for a change.

it's hard to say. some companies are now employing intensive psychological screening tests to try and keep these types out. however, since no test is 100% fail safe it appears it may be time for many businesses to seriously take a second look at their security plans.

Throw-in the reality of the murder weapon, a 357 Magnum - and it suddenly gets real again......

who knows why she had the gun, but as the news reports indicate, she didn't hesitate to use it. it appears to me that the problem is that many companies have a 'no guns allowed on the premises' policy which is a stated failure. only people who follow the rules follow these policies. obviously, the 'rule breakers' will simply trot out to their car to retrieve their favorite toy to do damage. and, since the worker bees have been effectively disarmed by the 'no guns allowed on company premises' policies, they are SITTING DUCKS waiting to be plucked, yes? I am nervous about being in public/private access buildings that have; "NO WEAPONS/HANDGUNS" notices plastered all over their entrances - when people entering the facility/property ARE NOT CHECKED for WEAPONS/HANDGUNS upon entering. The shooter apparently felt that employing the 357 Magnum was the most viable option to settling the score. The wounded and dead may have in fact earned their plight as shooting victims. Many people toy with giving others a hard time in the workplace. Many of them should think twice before doing so. Incidents like this should make some think twice on their behaviors toward others.

and, obviously, the security guards were unable to stop her which seems to indicate they were unarmed. let's at least get armed security guards at these companies, and by armed I mean someone who trains regularly with a firearm. I have noticed that in places where there is an armed security guard present, people tend to be more polite and courteous to one another.
imagine that. |

I feel there is an unprecedented opportunity in personal and business security that hasn't even begun to be addressed. a BIG part of the problem is that management doesn't think that they have a security problem, when in fact, they have a HUGE security problem. they need to pull their heads out of their tail pipes, wake up and smell the coffee NOW before more of these crazies unleash their unholy murderous shooting sprees. |

I would seriously doubt that the Kraft Co. food processing plants across the country have screening, metal detectors to detect any incoming weapons/handguns.
With the 357 Magnum drawn and pointed at any security guard, I doubt they could be of much help as the gunwoman re-entered the building.

I've worked at companies that employed off duty police officers as security. they sat right at the front entrance to the building and were very obviously ARMED. again, everyone seemed to act very pleasant and polite when in the vicinity of the security officer's desk. it takes a gun to stop a gun, always has and always will. |
