Get a GOOD wax and follow the directions. Also it will be much more effective if you apply it to as clean a surface as possible.

I'm just saying.
It's like the whole I can run my car on unheated veggie oil argument. Sure you can run your car on it.. but is it good for your engine? |

Here's my two cents. In my observation, cars that have a clear coat gets degraded faster and look like crap if waxed regularly than cars that have not been waxed. This is over a 10-15 year period with my own cars.
The short term benefit is the waxed cars definitely look better then the unwaxed counter part. So it boils down preference. .

I used to wax my cars. I understand the difference that waxing provides, to some degree.
...but why is automotive paint treated so differently from every other painted surface? If anything, due to the extreme conditions a car experiences each day, auto paint is made more durable than any other paint. I am not saying wax doesn't help it stay cleaner or look better longer... but for the longevity of the paint..... there should be no argument. |

Would never, ever use their oil-based, greasy products. Wax has zilch lasting value. If you really sealed it, you wouldn't need a wax on top of it anyway. WIZARDS PRODUCTS DOT COM - NONE BETTER........OR LONGER LASTING OUT THERE IN CAR CARE PRODUCTS LAND. BUY DIRECT AND SAVE!

the reasons those debates exist is due to the lack of data to each individual.
each person only has a limited window of experience. "I ran my car on Mobil1 for 5 years with no issues!!" unless the car spontaneously combusted, this douche will continue to believe that mobil1 is the best oil out there. etc... sure, pro detailers use wax, it makes a difference. But the idea of 'protection' , I think, is misleading. Think about the physics of wax for a sec. Water sticks to the paint because it is a rough surface compared to something like glass. You fill all the little valleys in with the wax then smooth the top out by heating the wax with each removing stroke. Certainly, less water and dirt can stick to this surface and maybe some acidic bird poop won't etch its mark in there. But what about the sun? By waxing, you actually trap light waves in between the wax and the paint surface creating more harm than if the car had no wax on it. The light waves continue to bounce around until they find their way out. Light waves can cause cancer in animals. But most of them ingest the elements you think you are protecting your paint from on a daily basis. i'm blabbing... just something to think about. |

I agree with you on this base on my own experience with wax or polishes and the hot Californian desert sun we have here. I think if the product can prove UV protection, I would use it, but I don't think there is a product out there that can prove it. .
