Looks like thousands will be fired when they don't report for work.

You can't fire the kids.

Fire the union teachers.

Hire non-union teachers for 1/2 the pay, and 100% better results.

What's your hold-up?

You live in Wisconsin - get the fire stoked.
[2/3 of public school eighth graders cannot read. This sounds good to you?

He!!, I'll move up there and work for 1/2 of what those clowns are being paid in a second!

Did I mention you can't fire the kids that are getting shafted by the union government workers?

What are you waiting for?

Wrong, chars:

Dept of Education stats indicate:

"Two-thirds of the eighth graders in Wisconsin public schools cannot read proficiently according to the U.S. Department of Education, despite the fact that Wisconsin spends more per pupil in its public schools than any other state in the Midwest."

Could it be that I pay more for a private education and so if my kid doesn't make it, I yank him out or that if I don't think he can make it, I won't spend money like that?

It's like the foreign kids that come to school here and do well. The difficulty of getting here and the cost becomes, in effect, a filter.

This is what I was getting at with my assembly line analogy. Much better than what I had. Thanks.

a lot of parents don't want to accept problems with their child so they blame it on the teacher.

Johhny got a C on his math test! He's smarter than that! Teacher's fault!

Which is a large part of the problem as well. Now why can't we fire the kids again? Make education a privilege and not a prison sentence. After all, that is what it is. Basically, the kid is on a "reverse huber" program. The go home at night and go to huber in the day.

I don't know about 100% better results but I believe the results, when pegged to the money spent will be better since you are paying half as much.

In a sense, yes. Less competition for jobs.

How do you propose to fire the kids? Besides toss them out of school?

Like partly what ails the kids, motivation.

Not to say it is totally the kids fault either. It could be the teacher's fault or BOTH.

Since 2/3 of WI. Johnnys in public schools cannot read in the eighth grade, who cares what his math score is?

Not in Wisconsin they cannot teach.

Explain how 2 out of 3 kids in eighth grade in WI public schools cannot read?

Your side isn't working. They need to be replaced by non-union workers that WILL teach..

Actually it looks like Wisconsin is with a few handful of states that are at or above the proficient level. Most of the west/southern of WI are below or well below Wisconsin.

In term of money spent per pupil, Wisconsin spends $10,267 per pupil. Which is not too much higher than the surrounding states, Michigan is only 500-700 less per pupil. $9.9k and Ohio is $9.7...

No he didn't. He changed the meaning of my post, which is lying.
But more to the point, here's the national scores which show WI ahead of Texas and CA. But we already knew that from reading your posts and those of 10fords.
