Does JW provide the actual documents which they reference? Does Salon?

JW does have links to documents; the Salon article's reference to Mr. Gingrich's consulting work and payment have been acknowledged by the candidate, so were documents necessary?

I like cited references to be linked. It gives me the opportunity to see whether I agree with the interpretation or summarization. When those same sorts of digests are offered but without the supporting documentation it gives me less confidence that the author is playing straight.

Recognizing that JW and Salon both have a certain perspective they promote is more than useful. But the source alone neither qualifies nor disqualifies the information. Thus, I have greater confidence in the readily documented JW information than the irritatingly absent documentation of Salon which becomes somewhat faith-based.

Maybe it's the field I'm in. I recognize that is not the norm.

That is not the crux of it at all. I read the article you posted. Still no evidence that Frank lied. That has nothing to do with spin or partisan politics or any of that.

The "fantasy" part that I mentioned has nothing to do with whether Frank lied. The article you posted said that the problems with Fannie and Freddie are responsible for the 2008 meltdown. That is just not true.Speak for yourself. I am completely biased in favor of Frank in this matter, even though it appears that his ideology got in the way of his better judgment on this issue. That bias, though, would not prevent me from accepting evidence that he lied. I just wish someone would either provide that evidence or admit that it doesn't exist.That's your loss.That is not true. Those seem like contradictory points. To say that he lacks in perspicacity is to say that he is the sort that might miss what is right under his nose, which makes it more likely that he did his best to tell the truth on both occasions. Even if we ignore that point for the moment, your post still reinforces the lack of evidence that Frank lied about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. If one is trying to prove that another is lying, it is best to start with actual evidence of a lie. Once that's established, we can move on to secondary things such as the person's general credibiility.
