I'm literally laughing out loud at how backwards it is!! We can't even get people to stop after running someone over and killing them here in Philly, much less a fender bender. People run all the time with insurance and its simply because they don't want to pay, whether its premiums or outright. Maybe you live in a nice quaint little town where everyone knows each other and a scarlet letter would be worn on an offender, but otherwise its time for a reality check. Do you seriously think it'll make people drive more responsibly!?
It's actually basic economics...

But yes, it will. After seatbelt use was mandated and widespread, accidents increased because people were less cautious.

Same principle. Alleviation of personal concern translates into an alleviation of personal concern.

ok - we are coming from different points on here. First, I don't believe physical injury and financial injury are on the same level. Second I am talking more in terms of people taking responsibility rather than just "accident stats" across the board. Go into a city and try to get people to take responsibility for anything that will hold them fiscally liable. There's already a high rate of hit and runs AND uninsured folks. No way is that going to decrease when people no longer have to purchase insurance...most will dodge both IMO. It would work in utopia, but not Philadelphia.

In This state--If a minor trespasses on your property and vandalizes something--Or some punk does what this kid did --
OH YES ---Homeowners insurance is liable.
And they are a corporation (which means they HAVE to hire an attorney)---
if they deny your claim, (their #'s show that 2/3's of the time the mark will just drop it and go away) so you will have to be ardent about knowing where the JP's office is--And what to do when you get there.

what if the guy crashes at a friend's apartment? Say he is out of work and mooches off his friends. chances are, you will not see a DIME in this life time.

the moochers are winning.

the lefties are winning; the guy causes damage to your car but
you may not collect a dime from him plus if you make a claim on your car insurance it may be counted against you. plus, if you take a ball bat
to him, you may be charged with assault. face it, we're screwed.
