I'm with you JP. I've never taken ANYTHING for nothing! I work and save for what I own. I don't have a whole lot but what I DO have I came by it honest and I came by it with no handouts from anyone, most especially the government.

I'm afraid my analytical side would kick in, no matter the cost or level of subsidy.

You'd be paying to PURCHASE the car, but what is it going to cost me long term to OWN the car?

Gift tax, property tax, insurance, maintenance, fuel, etc. It might be while you're subsidizing the purchase of the car, within the limits of my normal budget I just can't afford to own it.

Hey, when I said I'll pay, I'll pay. I'll give you a credit card for all of that stuff.

Same deal as with the car.

What if I offer you 75% not 100%? Still going for the Ferrari GTO? How about 95%?

I don't care what the discount is, I want an S600 so I will own an S600.

Of course I wouldn't turn down a discount, that's why you buy one CPO slightly used.

where is the inflection point at which you decide to go for the gold?

Your exercise is based on how much capital is available for the purchase; a discount on a more desirable product could sway the purchase decision away from a less desirable one.

But when the product is already the perfect car, which I think a V12 S class is, well than what other options are their? Maybe if the discount is enough to purchase a few of them.

I think we're on the same track. Generalizing the problem to any product is interesting.

Will you go get the Maybach at 5%?, 10%, 25%, 50%, etc.
If I understand the proposal correctly, I'm not getting the Maybach till your subsidy is large enough for me to afford buying the car. Realistically if I keep the car your going to have to get up to about 90%. If I feel I can flip the car then the subsidy will be less as long as I know I can dump it and not be left holding the bag.

No I idea if this what you are asking ro not.

Obviously at 100%, I'll take it. However, at a lower percentage, there will be some thought. What can I afford? If I can afford $10000, then at that percentage that comes to that, I'll take it. So say it is $50000 and you pick up 80%, it is sold since 20% is what I can afford.

PS. I'm a little upset. You are willing to give David that great gift because he is Jewish? What would you give me for conversion to Judaism? I can't be born a Jew but I can convert for the right price. As Michael Douglas said in "Romancing the Bone", "I'm not cheap but I can be had" or words to that effect. More to the point, Winston Zedmore in Ghostbusters said "If there is a steady paycheck, I'll believe whatever you say.".

I think the Judaic ruling is that a man cannot become a Jew except from a Jewish mother. It's like a second-tier membership. You can use the golf course but the clubhouse is off limits.

But a woman can convert.

Basically, your screwed on that one.

I knew it would pay off at some point. I do have a question though. Since I do not practice nor believe, do I still get the prize? If so I need a paypal or credit card. I found a Benz on Ebay I want.

Biological or not? Must the mother be biological to qualify? What about a "Man who was trapped in a woman's body"? Does that count if he gets a sex change?
