You know it! But I'm only as cheap as the one buying.

That's how I ended up with 4 kids...

While I was living/working in San Antonio, HEB carried Woodchuck Cider, came in several different varieties. Not near as good as over in Scotland, but the best I've found on this side of the pond so far.
The Mrs. got me onto Angry Orchard Crisp Apple cider. I want to say it's out of OH? It goes down waaaay too easily! Sounds like the cider you're talking about.

Thanks, I'll have to check around and see if anyone carries it down here.

If they do, then some imbibing, strictly for "research" purposes of course, will be in order.

Allagash White, Guinness stout, Fat Tire amber ale. I have a liking for the Belgian style brews, but strangely enough of the cheap swills, Bud Light Lime is pretty refreshing on a hot summer day.

Lets talk about BEER.
What is your favorite, or favorites, as the case may be? and WHY?
As an aside, I did some reading on the beer advocate website, and found it less than helpful. On describing the same beer, the descriptions vary more than they agree. No head, no lace, 1 finger head, good lace, full head, excellent lace--all describing the same brew. I figure with the OD crowd we ought to get some decent opinions.

I am a bit of a hophead, I like virtually any and all IPA. Some better ( or bitter) than others, but I've never had an objectionable IPA.

Current new favorite is Harvest Ale by Southern Tier Brewing.

Eagerly anticipating November's release of Celebration Ale by Sierra Nevada. I can't say I have ever had a bad brew from Sierra Nevada.
Cheapo stand-by is Yeungling Lager for the summer, switching to Porter in the fall.

That's it for me--where do the rest of you stand?
The convention is over--and anti climactic-- you might want to talk kool-aid

Research is definitely needed! I've never had the "original" so I'd like to know how it stacks up.

There is more to life than politics. You might want to think about what motivates you to stalk my threads and post smarmy comments.
This thread is about beer. If you have something to post about beer, then please do.
If not--get off this thread.

Scotland spoiled me on beer as well - after that, just about any of the major American beers tasted like they'd been processed thru a horse. Times I do decide on beer instead of cider, it's usually Fat Tire or 1554 - can't remember the name of the brewery.

If you're talking cheap pre-payday-just-because-it's-beer-and-I'm-in-the-convenience-store, then an oilcan of Foster's or Heineken will serve in a pinch.
Holy Loch I take it? I was kind of drawn to stongbow. A little less sweet. Tennetts? was the beer I drank the most when I was over there. 89-91

Tom T Hall (I Like Beer) - YouTube

It's rare that I encounter a beer I don't like, though some are definitely better than others.

My first legal beer was a Bass. Selection at the bars I frequent is pretty limited, and I don't drink at home very often anymore, so it's usually MGD or High Life for me. However, I really enjoy an IPA. Last month I went to Seattle and had the good fortune to sample Pike's Double Trouble IPA. Nice stuff. Once in a while I'll make the extra hike to a local bar that has Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA. It's the beer to have if you're only having one. It's 7.2% abv, and the amount of hops in it would surely do unpleasant things to my digestive system if I drank it in large quantity.

For the past 35 years every time I drink a Coors it tastes good to me. Other than that Newcastle brown ale is my second favorite everyday beer. The only beer I don't like is Budweiser or Coors light- they both give me a headache even in small doses. I am mostly into quantity not quality in the summer, but in the winter I like the thicker stuff. Has anyone else ever had Tooths sheaf stout? It makes Guiness look like Bud lite!!

That may happen tomorrow. Found Angry Orchard's website, used their location search, and there's like 70 places within 20 miles that carry it.

Belgian? Have you tried the ales from the Quebec brewer Unibroue? Maudite, La Fin du Monde, Don de Dieu ... they're incredible.
