I'm sure that these are just a radical few and we can't blame the entire faith for their actions. Why, any second now, I expect to see way, way, way larger counter protests, in a peaceful fashion against these radicals for their actions.

It was exactly the fear and hate mongering nonsense of pastor Terry Jones, remember the guy, he burned the Koran? that created this situation

He promoted scenes from the film to build hate against muslims in the US, Egyptian and Libyan media got ahold of that, now we have enough rage that has ended up with the death of Americans.

Stop playing your silly diversions song, the damn thing has nothing to do with Obama, except in how he now deals with it.

This entire disaster is because of hate mongering by idiots in our own country. Its a huge, and now bloody misunderstanding. For example, in Egypt, all films must have state approval to be released, so the average Egyptian would assume that such a film, (of which they only saw enraging clips that were even dubbed, their media is no better than ours) has US government approval, as they do not have the tradition of freedom of speech. Im sure its similar if not worse for Libyans

In my opinion, the fault of this incident lies at Terry Jones and Egyptian/middle east Media's feet for his and their out of context hate mongering using a stupid obscure hate mongering film made by an Israeli American real estate developer in California. Now its blown out of proportion, and good people are dead.

Oh yes, these poor guys were INSULTED! So they had to attack, burn and kill. Bull! They are responsible for their actions. Getting your feelings hurt is no excuse. I don't care what that idiot Terry Jones SAYS. He, you or anybody else can say all the mean things you want about me. Big deal.

right, im not advocating letting guilty parties run amok, but step one is to identify how this happened, and using our heads, not emotional invective, act accordingly.

Thats the difference between mob rule and intelligent response.

Mob rule is whats been demonstrated here, people reacting on pure emotion and hate built up by media and idiocy. We need to defend our compounds and act with intelligence.

I think avoiding escalation and letting the truth of the matter sink in is probably a wise move initially, thats probably why Egyptians attacking our flag weren't shot. In Libya specifically, the mob just killed a pro Libya and incredibly useful to them diplomatic representative of a powerful foreign power who was helping them get set up.

Why can't we hold the people responsible, responsible? Stop excusing the rioters and blaming the US or US citizens' actions.

we had 8 years of tough guy brain dead foreign policy with Bush, and how much respect internationally has that created for the US?

Things were different when Bush Sr. built up for the Gulf war, then a respected power led by a respected veteran organized an intervention by an openly aggressive power under Saddam. The goal was to prevent the type of situation similar to WW2 before it got off the ground.
