Yes, it reminds me of the popular media stories of 20 or 30 years ago, where they would do a piece on a murderer and finish the story with "How did society fail him?" Guess what? Society didn't commit the murders!

One of the important results of these acts is that now the world is starting to recognize that either there are orders of magnitude more "radical" Muslims out there or orders of magnitude more "non radical" Muslims who espouse violence. It's not a small number and it's not in a few places- it's everywhere that Islam is.

And it continues...The Embassy in Yemen was attacked, as was the one in Egypt. We have warships headed to Libya now.

i don't remember ever seeing a story like that.

Maybe you never watched 60 minutes, or other shows similar to it. There was a period, when this type story was almost weekly it seemed. It might have been when I still lived in the city in the late seventies or early eighties. It was all the rage for awhile until people started mocking it.

If your their on the ground and have direct intelligence otherwise of how to maintain the peace,its your call to hold and maintain.To strike out in a small force is suicide.I would suggest this is a riot design to destabilize the area, A move towards aggresion is only countered with more force when out numbered.A trail is always retraced to its source,propaganda powers are playing to their Arena to let the visitors know they still have control of the people ,a ratteling of the swords so to speak.

This was happening during the late '80's and early '90's. I remember the question popping up during the Jeffery Dahmer case, when the bleeding hearts were in the news crying about how society failed the young cannibal.

If I understand you correctly you are trying to say people higher up are controlling the violent mob, and have thought in advance on what the best way to destabilize the area which would result in more power to themselves.
I agree- Muslim clerics wish for more anarchy which results in more power for themselves and what they stand for, and they have done so with forethought, malice and disregard for those who are injured, killed or stand in the way.
Many similarities to La Cosa Nostra, Charles Manson and cult leaders who wish for power and control.

My question is this. When someones actions place my life in jeopardy what recourse do I have? What responsibility do we have to our fellow citizens? Am I entitled to say/do something that I know is offensive even if I know there is a good likely hood that it may get your kid who is serving abroad killed?

That is a very fine line and I am not sure I have an answer. I know he has the right to make the movie. I know the mobs are idiots and have no legitimate right to do what they have done. How ever they have done it. Where does his responsibility lay?
