Tell me...does your religion commonly accept the practice of belitteling others..making cruel remarks..etc..in order to bring people to them?
"corrupt generation" (Acts 2:40)
"brood of vipers" (Matthew 12:34;23:33)
"whitewashed tombs... full of dead men's bones and all uncleanliness...hypocrisy" (Matthew 23:27-28)

Jesus called people out of their stagnation, their comfortable way of living and looking at the world. Paul called people out of terrible religions and false belief. I have recognized quite well that the only thing responded to in this forum is strong words.

And why do you hold me to a higher standard than yourself? You are the one more commonly known for the drive by insults and slurs. Why the double standard?

I don't think this is just bad manners or an accident. There have been intellectual developments within Evangelicalism which has produced this tendency. At one time, evangelicals were 'evidentialist', that is people who attempted to provide convincing reasons for their beliefs. But, as a result of the influence of an Evangelical philosopher named Alvin Plantinga, their intellectual tactics changed. He argues that instead of proving the truth of religious beliefs, one only needs to prove that they are 'properly basic'. A properly basic belief is a legitimate belief which cannot be proven, such as the existence of other minds. According to him, people are entitled to hold 'properly basic' beliefs without evidence. This amounts to a 'weak' defense of religious beliefs. They're not 'true' but 'unprovable yet ok to be believed'.
In these circumstances, there is little the apologist can do except see if he or she (not likely to be a 'she' though) can do except try to find claims in the opponents views that are not true and then hope for the best. So if you can't establish positive reasons for religious beliefs, it's easy to resort to hurling insults at the enemy.
While I do not follow Plantinga's lead, I do find his reasoning on other matters well though out.

I specifically attack Islam because it is a touchy subject (and a false belief). I find it rather hypocritical that Christianity is attacked at every turn yet similar (or harsher) beliefs in Islam are never touched. Look at the homosexuality threads, why haven't the Muslims been read the riot act?

That's precisely the problem. The general tactic of 'proper basicality' justifies all religious beliefs that are 'properly basic'. Islam, Christianity, Heaven's Gate, Mormonism, you name it, fall into the same generally justifiable category. One is not 'more true' than the other because none can be proven true according to that general way of thinking.
The result is that evangelicals plink away at parts of other religions that aren't 'properly basic' such as historical claims etc but are never able to fire any serious shots at conflicting metaphysical propositions. Slurs and plinking become a substitute for reasoned discussion because distinctions of true/false in properly basic beliefs are inapplicable.

He's only human.

Come to think of it, humans debating "the divine" is fraught with irony.

Austin Lounge Lizards | "The most laughable band in show business" | Videos

I know you smoke, I know you drink that brew,
I just can't abide a sinner like you.
God can't either, that's why I know it's true,
That Jesus loves me but he can't stand you.

I'm going straight to heaven, boys, when I die,
'cause I've crossed every T and I've dotted every I
Why, my preacher tells me I'm god's kind of guy,
That's why Jesus loves me, but you're gonna fry.

God loves all his children, by gum,
That doesn't mean he won't incinerate some,
Can't you feel those hot flames licking you?

I'm raising my kids in a righteous way,
So don't be sending your kids to my house to play,
Yours will grow up stoned, left leaning and gay,
I know - Jesus told me on the phone today.

Jesus loves me, this I know
And he told me where you're gonna go,
There's room for your kind down below
Whoa, whoa, whoa

Jesus loves me, he loves me real good. I know he does.
He called me up on the phone today and told me how much he loves me.
He said, "Son, I love you."
He speaks English pretty well, considering it's a second language for him.
You can talk to him, too, you know. I've got a 900- number in Tulsa you can call him at, I do it all the time.
He'll be glad to hear from you. I talk to him everyday.

Jesus love me, but he can't stand you.

Are You Drinking With Me Jesus?
Jello Biafra with Mojo Nixon

I saw you sittin' there
I was tryin' not to stare
I wasn't sure if it was you
I didn't know just what to do

[Chorus:]
Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
I can't see you very clear
Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
Would you buy a friend a beer

As I nestled on my barstool
I felt your warmness within
I looked down at my pants
That wasn't warmness
I wet myself again

[Chorus]

Does your head pound, Jesus
As hung over you do rise
How does paradise look, Jesus
Through holy bloodshot eyes

Should we take a cab home Jesus
Man, we can hoof it from here
I know you can walk on the water
But can you walk on this much beer

Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
I can't see you very clear
Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
Would you buy a friend a beer
Gawd dammit, won't you buy a friend a beer!

There are some Christian conservatives who can't bear the thought:

God is Not a Torturer

I am asking what universal belief you think religion has provided us with. Is there not a difference between a truth (something that is proven such as gravity) and a belief (not proven)?

Seems to me that if you know the identity of god, knowing anything else at all ought to be a cakewalk.

Turns out you don't need magical thinking. Life is little more than a complex self replicating pattern. Turns out that complex self replicating patterns can spontaneously generate in the fine line where order meets chaos. Oh and life isn't the only time where this happens. Economics for example show the same behavior. Pretty much anywhere there is order bordering chaos it applies. It's referred to by the satan spawned sciency people as "complexity"

It just seems very odd that many of those who do NOT believe are so BENT on trying to convince others not to.

Just sayin'.
Although many of those argue that it is logic they are displaying, it seems more like a religion unto itself, with the most strident being those with the greatest doubt...
