There is no proof that this Jesus guy ever lived or existed, much less that He was indeed God. I would say there's little more than hearsay, much less evidence to account for His existence. Same for any g/God......I know of not one shred of evidence or proof to present of one's existence, either seen or unseen, past or present. My hope stands - I want to witness your dialogue with this God that you believe does not exist, that I happen to believe in, in the afterlife of death. I'll most likely precede you, so I'll have plenty of time to get a good seat for what I believe will be a very interesting meeting between you two.

Ahhh.... the hearsay crew has re-surfaced. My own name is hearsay is it not ? Someone told me what my name is, so that makes it hearsay by definition. That's OK. I still say a quick prayer in Church every Sunday for the non-believers on this forum. I know one day, one may be Saved and that's good enough for me. Could be Kerry ?

So if there was a Jesus, what does it prove? Unless that book can prove that the Jesus we are talking about existed, what does it matter? We are talking about Jesus, the alleged son of god not Jesus the carpenter. First step is to show that this character existed. Next is to show that he IS the son of god. If the book can show that, I'll buy it.

So you see my problem. Unless there is no god or it is a different god, all of which is possible.

So every believer gets what he NEEDS? Are you saying there are no believers that DO NOT get what they need?

Am I mistaken in thinking that your world also contains such fantastical things?

Yes, that's what I'm saying, but I don't have any belief whatsoever that you will agree with or believe what I am saying. I would, however, insert the word "true" in your above statement between the words "every" and "believer."

I've always found the world of many atheists/agnostics to be quite interesting. Although I rarely hesitate to state my opinions on things, I've never been one to try to push my religious beliefs off on others, except for a few, rare, close and personal conversations. The world of atheists/agnostics OTOH seems to contain many people who REALLY put forth a case for why others should join him in his disbelief. If you don't believe, FINE, have at it. It just seems very odd that many of those who do NOT believe are so BENT on trying to convince others not to. Just sayin'.

If I was to worship anything of historical value from long ago that may have direct impact on me today, it would be the Magna Carta, the foundation of the freedom of the individual over the power of an absolute ruler. Jesus certainly existed, but to accept he was the son of god, you would have to believe there is a god to be son of in the first place. There are no simple questions when it comes to someones personal belief, and faith takes many forms. For instance, I believe we are a form of life that evolved over millennia into our current form. Traits such as advanced thought, upright stance, tool use are all survival traits developed over thousands of years. If I asked you if you considered a creature from several million years ago to be savior, would you consider it a simper question?
