No, I am saying that by supporting a person who meddles in someone's life when it doesn't concern you, it is as though you meddled in their lives. If I gave money to Al Qaeda and they blew up your house, would you see it as all Aq Qaeda's fault or partly mine?

This is STILL an ABSURD argument. I don't know how you feel about gun control, but for the sake of discussion let's say that you are a firm believer in gun control to a point that you want all guns taken away from the citizenry by force. THEN you vote for someone who wants to do so. Even though you believe in Gun Control, you should NOT vote for that person?

The whole inference that someone should NOT vote for a person who sees issues the same as himself is preposterous.

Not a reasonable analogy. Al Quada (sp?) is not an American organization. If it were, however, IF the majority of the US public votes to put Al Quada in power, then that is the majority rule, and in this case you happened to be in the majority.

Well, when you go screw with the system, you have to expect to get hit back. Besides, that was of his own choosing so no sympathy. Also, as far as execution went, well, he didn't really die and knew he wouldn't so big deal.

To you, yes.

The point is you cannot distance yourself from the man you supported. So if he takes away my gun, I don't only blame him. I blame BOTH OF YOU. In the case of the Blue Laws or abortion or gays, etc, etc, it isn't your business.

What you are doing is saying "I support Joe who believes in concentration camps for Jews. HOWEVER, I am not really trying to screw around with Jewish people. In fact, some of my best friends are Jews".

You could substitute it for a member of the White Aryan Nation or KKK if you like. The point remains that if you sponsor someone, you are responsible as well.

I'm not saying that at all. If I vote for Joe and he does all that, either I agreed with him doing that, or more likely, he managed to mask his intentions while campaigning and getting elected.

That said, screwing with people because they, not by their own choice were born Jewish, is quite different than people who CHOOSE a particular lifestyle.

If people want to choose a particular lifestyle, fine, go for it. If the majority of people say they can howl at the moon all night long keeping everyone else awake, great. It was approved by the democratic process. If they don't win in the democratic system, they need to STFU and let everybody sleep.

Nobody is talking about if he suddenly changed tracks. That is a different story. However, if you knew it ahead of time and you supported him, you support his agenda. I have a pretty good idea of David Duke's past. If I support him, I support what he stands for.

It matters little if they choose it or not. As long as it is NOT YOUR BUSINESS, it remains NOT YOUR BUSINESS. If they are forcing you to join in, it becomes your business. Till then, keep your nose out of it. I don't ask you to drink. If you don't want to drink on the Sabbath, don't. Just don't stop me from drinking on whatever day I want.

Again, you are talking about something else. If your howling at the moon disturbs me, it is your business and mine. OTOH, if it doesn't affect you, it is my business and not yours. As they say, your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. However, till that point, you have NO RIGHT to say I cannot swing my fist nor should you restraint me.

Edit: Tell me if I am wrong but what you seem to be saying is "I don't believe in XYZ. If a senator proposes to outlaw XYZ and I support him ALTHOUGH IT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS, I am not really against your doing XYZ."

Big Giant Gnarly Problem I see with your logic here Larry.....

Putting one dude, the All Honorable Jesus H. Christ, at the center of things and claiming majority status because, well, you know, more than 50% of US citizens point towards The Dude - implies that you're accepting every certifiable nut job who claims to be a Christian into your tent (Westboro BC, anybody?). Separate the branches/cults/wingnuts/NOT ENOUGH LIKE ME types from your particular definition of mainstream, and I'd argue that your majority status goes in the crapper just as quickly as any claim that all Muslims are evil because (gasp!!!) Al Qaeda.
