I'm 33. I can be reasonably expected to drive for another 45 years if that. If I buy one or two new cars with a real transmission, rather than ones designed for drooling gimps, cell-phone-yapping teen girls, and overweight American porky-pies with ruined knees, they can be reasonably expected to last my entire driving career. Or at least till this country switches to 100% electric cars making the choice of transmission irrelevant.

I'd have no desire to drive an F1 car on the street. I'd rather have CONTROL, not have HAL-10000 calling the goddamned shots. You'd also find a steering wheel that turns about 1/4 turn each way in an F1 car

I think the point is that a manumatic trans is more efficient, faster and better for racing and for people who want high performance. Kind of like an electric started being more efficient, fuel injection being more fuel efficient ....

If you want a manual, go build your own car.
