5 Guys is good but I recently tried Elevation Burger. Wow was it good and its grass fed beef with the fries cooked in olive oil. Yum.

Never tried Braum's. We don't have them here. Five Guys is pretty good. In N Out is better. They opened a Steak N Shake in Reno recently, and after trying it I concluded it's on par with In N Out. I've heard some noise about a place called Burger Me, but haven't tried it yet. I look forward to doing so. I've also had Fatburger-a hair below Five Guys IMO. Whataburger failed to impress me. When I'm back east, I tend to prefer Waffle House.

Locally, Firkin and Fox has a great Firkin Burger (among other things), and being roughly across the street from the Capitol is a good place to legislator watch during evenings when the legislature is in session. A tad expensive though.

My house. Artisan brioche bun. Grass fed beef, rare. Pickled paper thin red onions, lettuce, homegrown maters. Real cheese if you must but no bacon, no bleu cheese or other adornments designed to mask the flavor of CAFO meat.
What time do we need to show up?

I am a huge fan of Red Robin in terms of franchise burger joints... for medium-sized, there is Boston Blackie's, the best burger I have ever had, hands down. And for small joint, nothing beats the Apple Pan in LA.

Around here there is a chain called Braums, thats pretty much Texas -maybe Oklahoma. A ice cream/dairy store that also cranks out decent burgers. Anybody else out the experienced Braums?
Braums rocks. Their farm not far from OKC is huge, grow their own produce that they sell in the OK stores, have their own dairy & beef herd. 1/3 pund jalepeno burger is awesome....

Red Robin is pretty good, kinda pricy. Whataburger is very old school and I like their stuff. Local small chain, The Garage (Edmond, OKC & Norman) has burgers so good that I'd almost go to jail for one. Cook to order, neat stuff like bleu cheese and green peppers, beer & a full bar....

For chains, I've had some good burgers at Five Guys, Jake's Wayback and I'm a big fan of the Red Robin "Royal" with the fried egg. And while I love me a bacon cheeseburger, a couple of my favorites don't include bacon.

For locals, which I prefer:

Ted's Restaurant in Meriden. Definitely a central CT thing, steamed -yep- steamed burgers. Sounds weird but they're great. Stay juicy but the fat gets steamed out. They offer all of the usual toppings but I go with a glop of melted cheddar (to replace the fat lost in the steaming process ), lettuce, tomato and onions. You do have to deal with lines a bit more now that they've been featured on Man vs. Food and Burger Paradise.

Louis' Lunch in New Haven, CT. (Generally) recognized to be the birthplace of the hamburger sandwich in the US. Vertical grilled in their 1898 vintage cast iron grills, served on toast. Only options are cheese, tomato and onion (that's how I get mine) just as it was 100 years ago. No ketchup, no mustard, no mayo, no bacon (which BTW is my favorite food group). The "packaging" really lets the flavor of the beef shine. It's almost like the Soup Nazi's shop on Seinfeld except they're nice folks.

I think the best local joint has to be Gatto's Diner. 1949 diner car, completely restored and loaded with pictures and such from the 1950's and '60's. You can get a tasty burger, a shake, drop a few coins in the jukebox, and enjoy.

My wife and I have made it a once a month thing for us to do while the kids are in school.

locally there is a place called "crazy burger" which I enjoy. However, the Fiance has shown a particularly impressive talent for reverse engineering the recipes from this establishment by sense of taste, so lately ive been enjoying my favorite flavors from their menu at home instead.

The burger I like the best there is a spiced turkey burger with a garlic curry mayonnaise, sliced green apple, and smoked gouda cheese on a sweet roll. yum

I’ve heard Hooters makes a great burger, served with a smile.

Hey, MTI, thanks for the feedback recently in the tech forum. BTW, did you make it to Amy’s?
