So... where did I say that? I don't recall using the word criticize. Come to think of it, you seem to be making my point.

something like that COULD be towed behind your truck.

How about a model plane that fits in the back of the truck? I'll bet that'd save a lot of $$$$$, too .

What's that? Any mention of the costly and uber-noisy practice of flying small death traps in less than glowing terms is unwelcome here? My bad.

Allow me to point out that the title of this thread is "What could go wrong....?"

An expert on the subject of General Aviation are you? Then how about sharing all this expertise with us little people?

You care to explain how General Aviation aircraft are "death traps?"

No, no, I meant picking a fight over morality/gays/drugs/etc. I hate flying -- I get very airsick.

What are the range of reasons for a reissue of an airworthiness certificate? Would the commission of air frame repairs be one reason?

It could have been something as simple as replacing the older certificate due to being lost or damaged. A search of the records at the FAA registry could tell you.

Wait, Larry is ready to go to the mat to defend his chosen love? Who woulda thought. Mechanical things break, reliably (look, me make funny). In the case of auto usage, at least one was aware of the danger when one set out on the road and is dealing with other vehicles on the same plane. When a small plane overshoots a runway, it can land on people minding their own business and with calamitous results.

I sorta doubt my one man campaign will ban small aircraft but I speak the truth when I say that one small plane can noise up a neighborhood far more effectively than 20 Harleys. Oh but hey, that pilot has a right to noise up that neighborhood, mister!

Yup. In my youth I thought it would be exciting but now it looks like cheap thrills to me. Expensive cheap thrills. If I lived in the wilds of Alaska I might feel differently.

Gotta die of something, may as well not be crapping, pissing, and drooling all over myself in some motherfawking nursing home when I'm 95. Speaking to all on PP: don't criticize people's decision to fly small planes even if you're too cowardly to step in one yourself!

I like! But then....you only have ONE engine. So when things go wrong....

Can this be glided up and down with ease?

If yes, then I'm sold.

Down? Easy. Up? Well, to a point you can trade airspeed for altitude, but with no available thrust, you're going back down sooner or later. Even helicopters can autorotate in the event of engine failure. The real problem is when you run out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time.

Statistically, on a per mile traveled basis, GA aircraft are about midway between a car and a motorcycle in terms of risk of fatality.

Owning and flying your own aircraft tends to be what most people would consider bloody expensive, but I think Justin has that covered.

I'd get my private pilot certificate if I could afford it.
