Blindspot mirrors...

Anyone had any luck with these? The mirrors in my 380 just plain suck. I dont trust them to switch lanes, much less in a parking lot.

Thanks,

I've seen German cars that have a small adjustable mirror mounted inside the car on the driver's side stuck on the dash next to the A pillar for the left side blind spot. Looks pretty ugly, but if your on the "bahn" at speed, I guess it's safter than turning to look.

I once considered those "racing" wide rear view mirrors, but decided I like my sun visors too much.

I buy those little round convex mirrors with the sticky backing...and just affix them onto the bottom furthermost corner of each mirror. You can find them at auto parts stores, and even grocery stores.

I have a pair on each of my MBs and I feel much more confident about what is around me when on the highway, and needing to change lanes.

I have seen the "autobahn"-type mirrors and some larger versions of the round ones, but I find them intrusive visually and aesthetically.

The round ones are cheap and effective.

I drive in all kinds of crazy Washington traffic and have had great “blind spot” results using the regular mirrors. Someone mentioned this technique in The Star several years ago. It works great for me.

Set the side mirrors way wider than normal. This way the side mirrors are dedicated just to your blind spots. The rearview mirror is set as normal and covers back past the blind spots.

A couple of years ago my son and I rented a new Mercedes in Germany. It was a small Diesel that was about as neat a car as I have ever driven. Its driver's side mirror had a small section of the outside edge 'bent' outward just a bit. It gave a lifeside view of the blind spot and on the autobahn at 80mph plus it worked like a charm. We won't see them in the States for at least another 15 years.

Kip, I know the mirrors your talking about, and you can get them shipped here to you in the states. E-mail MBenzNL and he can ship the mirror glass to you.
