There is a BIG difference,
not in the removal or takin it apart-putting it back together. Is there a particular reason why you are taking the engine apart? Generally-I'll say ALWAYS, engine "freshen ups" don't work with diesels. If you have lower end problems and it needs rings- well, it will need OS pistons and boring of the block to be reliable. Diesels can go hundreds of thousands of miles with regular oil changes. The valves tend to not require grinding as often due to the slightly lower operation RPM or maybe due to different camshaft design. When they do need valve jobs, they tend to need new guides and valves. Michael
