Detritus = "...any accumulation of disintegrated material, or debris." Latin, same root as detriment.

The Durango was pristine a few weeks ago, but with kids ages 3-11, along with school, soccer, basketball, horse saddles, golf and other stuff being tossed in there on a regular basis - all in the climatic paradise of Western Washington - plenty of "disintegrated material, or debris" accumulates very quickly in there.

Much the same can be said for the TE, which does its duty in Northern California and hauls around cyclists and gear, a Golden Retriever (one who loves swimming), and golfers and gear, not to mention school-aged kids.
