Introducing our new-to-us 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL!

We're super excited to welcome a new member to the Pelican Parts family! Meet our 190SL - shot moments after it arrived to our facility. It has been modified for track use and features the four cylinder, with dual Webers in place of the Solexes and should pump out approx. 125hp. It also has a front spindle swap including disc brakes from a '70 280SE, in addition to numerous other enhancements.

More pictures to come, plus, what we're going to do with it! Stay tuned....

I noticed you (or somebody) dumped the distributor point system for what appears to be the Pertronix electronic set-up. Smart move.

Please, oh please, get rid of those hideous blue plug wires.

I'm thinking electronic fuel injection and possibly ignition control is your next step.

THEN you're ready for turbo!

Having owned both a 300SL and a 190SL, a long time ago, I'm reminded of the old description or comparison of the two cars..........."The 300SL is a real man's car whereas the 190SL is the car that you buy your mistress when you plan to breakup with her!"

The 190SL is a real fun car although I question whether it could ever be competitive. Good luck with your project.

Nice car, we had a red 190SL for many years - shouldn't have sold it. However, I still have my 1984 300CD that we bought new from Overseas Orders in Fort Worth, TX

This is the car that got me into Mercedes! 1970 somewhere in Marin, I pulled my autocross competitive Spitfire into a gas station and this guy had the hood up on his 190SL. Oh my! tune intake, tuned exhaust, dual webers, overhead cam, Aluminum hood, nice dash! There was no way I could find an overhead cam for a Spitfire! It took me 2 months to find one I could afford.

Then I started to learn you NEVER buy a Mercedes you can afford. Its the Mercedes you can't afford you really want.

I managed to dump the rust bucket stock 110HP snail to nail a 250SL That is still in the garage, yearning to go for a nice long drive this weekend.

Long story short, my wife drives a benz, my son drive a C55, his wife drives a benz.

By the way, did they rip out the drop peddles? I couldn't believe a 1957 car had peddles from the 40's.
