i dont understand why this topic always ends up in people calling others stupid ignorant and so on. its an alternative fuel topic. i am running 50/50 wmo/diesel. have for 10,000 miles. my oil settles and gets pumped from the top. double filtered through 1 micron filters. i have $30 in filters including the buying the initial filter units. i still have 2 extra cartridges. at $3.75 a gallon diesel...that means it cost me 1.87 for diesel. say for giggles 25 mpg thats 400 gallons of fuel total 200 ($750) of that is diesel the other wmo. that means i saved $750 in fuel minus the filters= $720. i currently have $500 in the car to it has payed for itself and is paying me now...$220...this car has 256,000 miles on it. current scrap price is 250 a ton, the car weighs about 3000 to 3500 lbs so it scraps for over $300. i have seen no performance changes, it doesnt smoke, no problems whatsoever. i am going to continue until it dies. its a great looking car with no rust or any other issues. i can part it out then scrap whats left. for me its win win. the moral of my long post is its not for everyone but it works for others. dont belittle anyone just because you dont wanna do it. lets learn how to make this work. as for me...im takin this car to the bank. thank you.

It's basically a still that operates below atmospheric pressure. There are refinements, etc but feed goes in the middle, heavies fall to the bottom and the more volatile's rise. It's operated at whatever P/T gives the optimal ($$) separation.

At a given temperature and pressure the height of the product in the tower is a function of it's specific gravity. Products are separated by height.

The guys on the Diesel Stop forums are mixing up to 20% RUG into the UMO and leaving sit for 48 hours, the pulling off the top.
They are getting good results with less smoke and carbon.
Some are using used ATF with good results also.

I just wanted to say I run %100 Wmo in my 12v Cummins for the last 45k some times I add %10 rug mostly in the winter, now I'm running %40 in my 91 300d and I've found the best way to filter it is put it in a 275 tote let it sit for a month then I put it in a 200 propane tank with 10 10 micron spin on filters I just use an air compressor and let it get to 20psi and its worked the best so for even better than my friend that has a centrifuge and he only mixes at %30 Wmo and clogs filters on his truck

So you filter the WMO through ten 10 micron filters? How long do the filters (1 through 10) last?

Are your WMO from a gasoline or diesel engine, dino or synthetic?

Yes I use ten 10 micron spin on filters I only change the first filter and I can pump 50 gallons before I have to change it, but they only cost me $4 so who cares. The oil is from 18 wheelers I wish I could get car oil, as far as sinthetic its mostly regular oil but I have burned gear oil trans oil and synthetic I don't really care what it is

I have run close to a 50/50 mix in my 300SD and it seemed to run fine. Same or better power not much more smoke and a little quieter. When I process WMO, I add gasoline to 10-15% before pouring the WMO into the fuel tank which has X amount of D2.

I would keep running WMO but I can't find a way to get it. Some shops get paid for it and the ones that don't seem to be bound by corporate policy or EPA laws and will not give me the oil. Any suggestions on how to get more oil?

Howdy,

This might have been covered, but I need to know what folks are doing to filter the oil. I cleaned a set of injectors x 2 for a forum member and a person who submitted posts. I can say definitively that there is a slight grit in the WMO because it was collected in the injectors. This "grit" must be metalic because it is magnetic. I can get about 10 -20 gallons of WMO per month and I am thinking of mixing it with WVO (which I burned) and will be back to burning within 3 weeks. I currently centrifuge my grease. Can I centrifuge WMO ?

It this was already beat to death, please just post the simpliest and most effective way to filter WMO.

Thanks in advance !

I mix with diesel 50/50 then strained thru old Levi jeans add magnet to storage tank, then stay 6 inches of the bottom with pump.I don't run any right now because its toxic. But If war breaks out yes I will go to work
