That would be neat

A wall covered with vacuum diagrams would be cool. I have an old injury that has flared up keeping me from doing much. But I have managed to save all this great information before it goes pay for view LOL

vacuum diagram help

I've got a 1984 300D (non Turbo) that I need a vacuum diagram for. There's no egr valve and some of the components are different than a 1980 300D or a 1984 300D Turbo.

THE REASON: I purchased the car 4 years ago which had just been shipped from Guam (lots of rust). The guy who sold it to me told me it was originally from Germany (The cruise control knob is in German; Beschl./ Verzog.). I've always had trouble figuring out which parts to buy, 1984 parts for the body and 1980 parts for the engine.

The VIN# is WDB1231301A160935. The DMV did'nt even believe this was the correct number.

Anyone else out there own or have heard of such a Benz?

Let me know

You have what's considered a Euro model. There are several on this site that have Euro models (my neighbor has one). There are small differences throughout, but all are non-turbos as you have seen.

Thanks Phantoms

I've been finding a few "Euro" posts in the last coupls of days and now realize I am in a select group of Benz owners who have to work that much harder to fix their cars. Think I solved my vacuum problem. I bought the rebuild kit for the piston vacuum pump and put everything together but still had problems stopping and turning off the car. Then I put a used brake booster on thinking that was the problem. NOPE! Turns out the small round gaskets they sent in the rebuild kit that seal the three check valves were too "short" and didn't seal against the cover of the pump.....8 hours of labor and a week of racking my brain all because of 2 cents worth of rubber, (I guess thats typical for a vacuum problem though). I also found out that if I need a replacement for the vacuum control valve on the injection pump I need to buy the one they put on the 190D in 1984, (I have the "metal" one with two inputs next to each other and the bleed off on the side).

Thanks again

KEEP THE "EUROS" ROLLING

Vaccum Hose

I changed the oil filter this morning on my 85 300D and accidentally disconected the brown/blue hose, the one coming out of the fire wall, I can't figure, for the life of me, where to reconnect it. As a result the only way I can shut down the engine is with the stop lever.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think you pretty much answered your own question. The hose that came off is the one that goes to the IP to the shutoff valve. It is at the very rear of the IP, right by the oil filter housing too.

I have a question about http://home.comcast.net/~phantoms/vacuum/IP_shutoff.jpg

Can someone tell me what exactly the "valve glow stater switch" and the "cam glow starter switch" are? Is this a funky technical name for the ignition switch (key)? Will I need this to make this citcuit function properly when the engine is installed in my Jeep?

TIA,
Don
