82 300sd ATF cap ..what the heck
im a rookie ....bought some prolong for the erratic sometimes hard shifting tranny...the orange plastic filler tube cap doesnt screw on or compression fit ...dont want to bust it by forcing ....any one ?????

There is a lock which is hinged to the cap. The lock wraps around the filler tube below the cap. Disengage the lock and the dipstick should pull right out.

thanks was so close to busting it ..i packed it in will try again...

Your tranny problems may be vacuum related.
