1995 S350 with a 3.0L 603 from a 1986 or 1987 300SDL, nice car without the rod-bending.

Johnhef,

About tHe only difference between a 350SL and a 450SL is one liter. So why not a 450SLD?

Markku simply awsome! A 606 to!

The more I look at these the more I want to undertake a project like that and turn mine into one! Maybe in another year or so a 300+hp SDL would be a nice toy!

How much do those turbo's and intercoolers run? I wonder if an intercooler from a more common car such as a Subaru or Mustang would work? Maybe one out of a late W210 hmmm.

Reasonably capable 4x4, good clearance, lockers, good for camping, sleep in the back when needed. Runs on veg, etc, multifuel. Cruise comfortably at 70mph on the interstate. Basic comforts, AC w/defrost, delay wipers, cruise.

If you need a proper Intercooler and Pump you could pm user Mauri H. He has contacts to the Finnish specialists.

the 350 name was shared by both gas (116) and diesel (603) engines. the 450 was only known as a gasser, if the name plate were to be correct, it should take on the name of whatever breed of 617, 603, 606, etc that would inhabit its bay.

Unless you're trying to bring back the oldsmobile ghosts and want to make a gas engine run on diesel

I'll be starting with an Audi 5000 intercooler where my hydraulic tank was. I still need to find it's burst rating before I try to run 13.5-15psi through it.

I'm also trying to track down one or two Garrett VNT25's used on a few 89-90 Crysler 2.2t powered models. I'm thinking (hoping) that a 25 will be too small for 3L and I'll have to make custom headers with twin VGT turbos.

Interesting I wonder if those guys have 603 "kits" made up? Ie a turbo, intercooler, IP. The other stuff can be put together without much trouble I know someone who could modify the intake.

When I get out of school in a few weeks I shall investigate further.

.

Known to run 25 psi without bursting, although a backfire will take them out.
Used on.........
The Audi 100 CD from 1979 European model.
Audi 5000S 1981 to 1988.
Audi 200. 1989 on.

The intercoolers on these all have 90 degree inlet/outlets from the core..

There used to be a guy running 'Intended Acceleration' that upped the power to 220hp with a piggy back chip on these Audi's with about 20 psi boost..

I have a NOS inter cooler from a 1999 TDI Golf...I think !
Has a 45 degree and a Zero degree opening.
Measures 53 mm inlet/outlet ID.
Core is 85mm X 200mm and 335mm over all height.
Call me if you could use it.
405 388 2943....You can have it at my cost.

Just looked it up on my ETKA6 and it is listed as #1J 145 803 G.

I was going to use it in a Subaru powered Vanagon with an SVX 3.3 engine.
Looks like I am going with a '98 1.9 TDi engine now as I have a complete car to work with........

diesel mog and a 5.9 ctd to tow it, also an old diesel toyota 4 runner.

6BT diesel hot rod, 1919 dodge, it's gotta be a mopar.

617 in a 123 with a 4-speed hopefully I will realize this dream within a week or 2, and one day a dream trip to europe to get a 5-speed.

4-speed 123 wagon.

Something with a cdi.

oh yeah also a diesel motorcycle.

I will be happy if I can have no vehicles that run on gas.

i guess im a simple guy

i would just like to see the neons compete with te TDIs, a 3 door, wagon sedan and coupe.

i miss the days when you could get any car in all variations with a choice of drivetrains and **gasp** interior colors. why do we only get grey or tan that turns yellow in 2 years?

something small and slow and super economical. i really enjoy the neons driving style, but the 150hp is almost too much for the stock "performance" suspension to handle. i like that you cant outdrive the suspension on a 240D.

dont they offer a diesel neon in europe? could i import it easily? i live in alabama, they dont care what you drive, it can be on fire and theyll tell you to hurry home to put it out...

peugot

have you ever owned a peugot? i have and all i can say is YIKES! one of the shortest periods of ownership i have ever had. it drove and rode like a dream but the quality was very poor and parts availability was impossible.
