Though one day I'll probably be in you all's predicaments of the look and slap syndrome, I'm happy to say that I can look around all I want and not worry about brain injury from a swift hand to the head.

I got my first tank of B20 exactly a week ago, and gave the 300D about 3 good Italian tuneups (foot all the way down to 78mph), the first time blocked out sunlight in the Aldine area for about a minute, the second time, the Pearland area had about 30 seconds of shade, and by the third time, it looked pretty cleared up, and my exhaust fumes are not nearly as offensive as regular diesel, it smells pretty good actually. I'm down to about 8 gallons on my tank, but I won't be getting anymore biodiesel for a while, it's a good 23-25 mile drive from me to the local Biodiesel retailer compared to the 7 miles to the nearest truck stop. I think biodiesel will be a once a month or every two months fuel for me.

My two Benzes have been fed a steady diet of B20 the last year...at least 90% of the time......Never noticed a change on the W116 but the W123 runs far better than it did when I first got it as a result...but the Pentagon NEX is only a couple mile detour to fill up on B20 so it is convienient for me. If I had to drive 20 miles or more to get it then it would get it far less.

Down heyaa, I usually wait in the car while the car is being filled and take care of the bill monthly. Unfortunately, that isn't the case in the wake of the Storm.

I was actually on the cellphone with a member here who just helped me out in a pinch by searching the forum. I thought, since I couldn't check for myself, I would add the oil as insurance. I have noticed no change in the performance of my car, although I may change the fuel filters once the crisis dies down for peace of mind.

Oh, I am the envy of the neighborhood. Everyone says they want a diesel now and the local MB dealer is offering good deals and the gov. tax credits on CDIs. It will be a shortlived fad--most people are just scared of diesels. Primarily, imo, because of the idiot american car company gas to diesel conversions during the previous fuel crisis.

edit: btw, my brother maried a cuban girl and keeps me well stocked with arturo fuente opus Xs, and other habana delights

The question is not whether you have higher lubricity. The question is whether you need it or not. It is just like gasoline octane. If you car can run on 87, there is no need for 93. MB injector pumps do not seem to be affected by ULSD so just because you have it doesn't mean a thing.

As to diesels becoming more popular, I doubt it will happen as more than a passing fad. How many people will carry disposable gloves to fuel up? That is what I do so I don't bring diesel into the car and stink it for the next two days.

I spilled diesel all over my winter floor mats lining my trunk a couple weeks ago, there was a small puddle of diesel in one of the mats. (I was filling a couple 5 gallon jugs) I never noticed any smell in the car! I use no gloves filling either, and almost always get some on my hands....but I don't notice it. I think I am very-accustomed to the smell! That could be looked at as either a good or bad thing....

I noticed one thing: B20 is nearly clear looking when glimpsed at through a nice new pre-filter. But the standard "Premium #2 diesel" from the Meijer station up the street has a nice green color, and WOW do our cars love that stuff. They sell the cheapest and best diesel in town....I get great mpg's and power with it. Also its far cheapest....2.69 Speedway wants 2.89 to 2.97. It claims "additives for injection lubricity and injector cleaning" and such on the sign on the pump. I don't know about all that but the difference between that and B20 is great in terms of power and such.....I fill to the filler neck and my needle is just leaving 3/4 (barely) with 208 miles driven so far...!

Note to self. fill up bottle with diesel and lable it cologne for this guy and give it to him for X'mas.

How did you get all that power and mileage when many have said that biodiesel has lower BTU and thus will lose mileage and power? I suspect that your B20 has 20% biodiesel and 80% better diesel than most pumps. I get way worse mileage on Woodman's diesel than other places and I know it is the diesel that is not as good since we are comparing diesel all around. You get sucky mileage with Woodman's diesel and when you change the filling station the mileage goes up and so does the SOTP dyno reading. Go back to Woodman's and the mileage goes down.
