Does it gradually clear up (that is, idle smoother) after say 10 minutes of in-town driving, or sitting at idle after the higher-speed run?

My '79 SD did this most of the time I owned it. I was told it was due to wear in the governor in the injection pump. It was markedly worse in hot weather.

It would do the same, though only for a minute or so, after hot restarts in city driving in very hot and humid weather.

I just learned to live with it. I'd be interested to know whether I was given the correct info.

Wow...with all this bumping and shaking going on, I foresee a whole new generation of Mercedes diesel enthusiasts in about 15 more years. But...as we all say, no pics = no proof. My wife's boobs were shaking the other day, but it had nothing to do with the rough idle in the SD....LMAO

Chuckle

My wife complained about this a few months ago.
Sadly I was not with her at the time.

Three of four tires shifted belts that morning.
4 new tires fixed the issue..

Gives a whole new definition to "improved vibration damper", huh?

I re-read my previous post to this thread; about the size restrictions on wife (now ex-wife). I have no idea what I meant with the "V" comment. Glad Coda's fuel leak and motor mounts got fixed. I do miss that car, Chad. And I have some news to share in a few weeks to prove it. Patience all you eager Grasshoppers!

I wonder if my new girlfriend will help me make a video. SOME of you guys would definitely enjoy.

Can you share the secrets of having a shake this bad or good. Depending on your viewpoint I guess. So we too can have simular benifits in our cars as well?
