I'd mount the... I mean change the mount motor, no wait change the motor mounts first. If it persists, take the injectors out for testing and cleaning if necessary. They will pump the injector with some fluid and get it to squirt and see the pressure and pattern.

After TWO more replacements (of Autozone type O ring hangars) that failed catastrophically, you get wise to the fact that the square OE Mercedes Benz muffler hangars, which are very cheap, are the way to go.

In your case, I'd check them and replace them with OE right away, also
This is why I have a roll of bailing wire in my trunk

Try adjusting the rack damper bolt, or replacing it. Fixed my 300TD!

The other half say pay a shop to do it.......

you can do it yourself witha lot of patience. be sure to unbolt the mounts for the cooler lines when you do the left side.

GRIN

I was bouncing down one of our fine Detroit rejected goat paths (highways), with everything shaking out of the center console tray....

Suddenly I remembered this thread, and could not stop grinning...

I changed my engine and transmission mounts last weekend. It was quite easy. You do need a floor jack, jack stands, metric hex tools, and metric wrenches. You will spend a lot of time on the floor.

BTW: The mounts did fix the rattle, but didn't fix the rough idle. For rough idle this has worked for me: 1) fuel filter, doesn't work: 2) Diesel Kleen. I know I will need to clean/rebuild/balance the injectors at some point. I think slightly unbalanced injectors when the engine is starved by a clogged filter makes the engine rough.
